Default MS Clinics and Doctors...

The tread on Atlanta or Nashville got me thinking... some comments about doctors that were GREAT! and some that were rude and condescending and reading other threads where neuros scared people or rushed them! Was wondering if we could share who we see and where, and what we think of our docs. Might be nice for those facing a dx or looking for good neuros v/s those who have proven to be short and not as caring as we would like.

I see Dr. Khurram Bashir in Birmingham, Alabama at the Kirklin Clinic
their MS clinic does research and clinical trials and Dr. Bashir is WONDERFUL!!! If I email him either he or his nurse call me (they use to be able to email me until the darn hippa stuff started )

all the staff there take time with you--all you need! I've never felt rushed, they listen, encourage questions, and when I am there, he makes me feel like I'm important, special, and he listens! The nurses listen and take time with you too.

The MS Neurology Dept. use to be run by Dr. John Whitaker. He was killed several years ago putting ALL of his patients on Dr. Bashir's roster. Even during that time he never made me feel like he was in a hurry, though his caseload had doubled!

so... making a list of GOOD neuros:

1. Khurram Bashir, Kirklin Clinic, Birmingham, Alabama

will edit and add good and start 'Bad' if we get responses here

We've started several sites like this over the years.

http://www.msneuroratings.com/ratings.php

is one. These have been around, well, since 1992. That's when I joined the Prodigy board

Hi Tom,
I was anxious to look at that but they are all marked "private".

Snoodles -

ok, I guess we have to work on this. You're right, my bookmark doesn't work.

Please be patient - my shuttle doesn't land until next Saturday, so I'm somewhat pre-occupied.

I followed the link and had to register, then could see what was "private"....not that many, only one in Alabama, but perhaps that is because this is the kind of site that needs to have more attention drawn to it for people to add their experiences.

Thanks for the link, Tom.

I don't think that website is maintained any longer. I could be wrong.
