I started to feel like crap last night when the thunderstorms started to roll through...major vertigo, numbness, cog function, slurring. I hadn't felt that bad since before my steroid treatment! I got really nervous because it came on so quickly. My other flares have never been like that.
It got me thinking why now? What did I do to start this flare, I just got over my treatment a month ago. Then I starting to wonder about the severe thunderstorms we were getting. Did they have something to do with it? Was it the change in the atmosphere? Did any of you other New Englanders feel a change last night with the storms?

I don't live in New England but I know that sometimes before thunderstorms here, I do get some dizziness and slight cog changes. Once the storm starts, I start feeling better.
Did you start feeling better after the storm passed? If not, I would call the neuro and talk to them about it. If you did feel better, just make a note of what happened and talk to the neuro about it at your next visit. In the meantime, sending you lots of hugs and hoping you are feeling much better. ![]() |

Have you tried taking an Advil or something similar? I do find that helps me. Although mine are definitely sinus related and therefore, I don't have the numbness or the slurring (the 2 things I would be most concerned about in your case).

I did take some last night before my Rebif shot. Then I fell asleep so I don't know if it helped any. I will try some. Anything can help. What gets me about the numbness is I keep biting my tongue! That is such a nuisance (sp?) Maybe that is why I am now slurring...

I also get headaches and have sinus issues when there is a drop in barometric pressure, but I do not think this is ms related.

I was going to mention the barometric pressure, too. Sometimes that can give you a headache or make your sinuses go crazy. Sometimes it makes me dizzy because of the pressure in my ears. This can give those of us with MS all kinds of crazy symptoms.....so what's new??
![]() I hope you're feeling better now. We've had some pretty severe thunderstorms this Spring. And it's not even summer (officially) yet!! ![]()
