Wow, I can't believe how different areas of the country treat sleep studies. I had my sleep study, was called back in a week to tell me that my obstructive sleep apnea was of a level that warranted a CPAP machine. So they schedule another sleep study with you using a CPAP. You go in a little earlier than the original study so you can have plent of time to try out the different masks. I chose the 'nose pillow' also. After you choose a mask that fits you the best they turn out the llights and you go to sleep. They had to wake me the next morning, I slept that good.

So I have done well with my CPAP. Many mornings I wake up and find my mask on the floor. But I don't snore, I think it's impossible. I use it when I nap and get much better rest. I have a fat little face so it did take some getting used to the feel of the mask on but once I'm asleep I'm out of it.

Oh, insurance paid all but my co-pay. But I'm on Medicare due to SSD.

Sometime when all the family is together we are going to have a family picture with all out CPAPs. My Mom, me and my sister. Her husband and my son in law and also a sister in law. So i think that's 6 of us. I'm sure for all but my son in law it's because of obesity.

Good luck

Snoopy, thanks for telling me about the Apnea/Sleep Disorders Forum. I had never noticed it before. I will go and check it out today.

Doydie, I think the family CPAP picture is a great idea! It could be your Christmas card. Ha ha. Thanks for your insight with your CPAP experiences. I am going in today to pick up my machine to do the unattended sleep study, at home, over the next couple of days. Should be interesting.

I then will bring the Smartcard from the machine back to the clinic and they will decide if further adjustments need to be made. If not, they will contact my insurance company and order the equipment I need.

I will let you all know how my first night goes. Hopefully well, because I have to work tomorrow and I have a 4:45 am wake up time. I can't afford to more sleep deprived than I am already.
