Who is going to join me in my darkened livingroom, sitting quietly, whilst little beggers are pounding on my door?
It used to be such a big deal for DH and me. We always enjoyed all the little goblins, but DH is deceased and I just can't do the running back and forth to the door. I guess I will close the blinds and turn out the lights...<sigh> How do all of you PwMS handle this? Especially, if you don't have help?

I sit out a bowl of candy on a chair on the porch with a sign saying 'Please take two! Happy Halloween'
Take care. Last edited by 0357; 10-27-2006 at 04:43 PM. |

[B]My Dh won't be home so I'll ask my son
to come over coz I don't want to be "running" back & forth to the door every 10 minutes. The little & big globlins usually start as soon as it gets dark...5:30pm. Guess I'll have dinner earlier. I enjoy seeing the little ones in their costumes. The kids are so big today I never know if they're in elementary school or JR. High.. |

Some good ideas here. I guess I could set a bowl of candy on the porch. Putting trust in the little goblins is a good idea.
I could go to my Daughters house and enjoy my Grands dressing up and all their little begger friends. This year won't be possible, darn it, but I'll do that next year. Thanks, I feel better about it now. Smooches,

If I did that where I live, the first little goblins that came along would undoubtedly gobble up the whole lot!

Here too, lol. Not the wee ones, because they are accompanied by their parents, but the older ones will most likely take the bowl and all.

We don't have it here, so I am no help! My kids watch Disney channel so they do get into some of the American stuff and they always ask if they can go trick or treating! We do reverse trick or treating, they take lollies (candy) and visit neighbors all dressed up and offer them the lollies!!! I have been teaching my son some tricks incase someone says they don't want the lollies and he can do a 'trick'!!!!
One year I had some teenagers come trick or treating to our house, as I had young kids I didn't have any lollies in the house (if I did they got eaten in a flash). So I said that I was really sorry, I didn't have anything (only healthy stuff or perhaps a plain biscuit). I don't think they believed me, they came back later and smashed all our garden lights . Sometimes I would much prefer that these things don't cross country's! Tell me, I would love to know, what on earth ever started the halloween tradition? Natalie |

Here is a link to the History/Origin of Halloween. It's Celtic, of course. http://www.halloweenishere.com/history2.html

Hi Sally,
We had lots of tots tonight. I had about 200 mini candy bars. DH wanted to ration, afraid we'd run out, but I was giving 2 - 5 bars per child. I love it when a really tiny one will look in the bowl with huge eyes and put one after another into their loot bag. We must have had about 75 kids tonight. It was only about 30 degrees so I think that kept the numbers down. This is a neighborhood with lots of kids. If DH weren't here as backup, I don't know how I'd handle it. I'm enjoying it while I can though, especially since I don't have little ones or grandkids yet!
