MSacorn is right...
make sure you bring an Ace bandage with you, or an ankle-support Ace one-piecer-dealie-bopper, maybe? and ice. and the bruise? well, that happens with DEEP tissue damage, where it takes a while, sometimes DAYS, for the bruising to surface, and become visible. lol, Yabbit, I'm a freakin' EXPERT on ankle-collapse-disprder... I have a pair of Ankle Foot Orthotics (called bilateral AFOs), not those big ol' fancy ones that are knee-high, and custom-fitted and all, instead, mine are soft fabric, with wide Velco-straps, with STIFF plastic side strips that keep my ankles from doin' that rock 'n' ROLL carp... I have found that if I wear "dress socks" (knee-high, very thin, almost like nylons), I can still wear my USUAL tennis shows, and hiking boots, even with my AFOs on !! I got mine with an Rx from my neuro, at my local HANGER outlet in California. http://www.hanger.com/ProstheticsOrt...sSupports.aspx now, if I just took the TIME to strap them on all the time, even when I feel GOOD, but have some walking to do, then maybe I wouldn't keep SPRAINING my darn ankles ?? three times this year already, darn it !! and ARGGGGHHHH, into the bargain... in solidarity.

Hi Char,
Sorry about your foot mishap! That happens to me sometimes too. And I know about the steroids weakening the bones. Once after my second massive steroid treatment, I fell and broke my left foot. I didn't realize I'd broken it though so I went back to work. I worked all afternoon limping around in misery. My foot swelled and turned black and blue by closing so I went to the local urgent care. I didn't get to see a bone doctor until a few days later and it was too late to do anything for it so I had to walk on the darn thing for several months that way. Anyway, it was just a hairline fracture but it hurt like heck for a couple of weeks and took about six months to heal, and about two years to feel almost normal again. Please baby it when you can but have fun too. I'm also jealous, I'd love to be in the Northwoods of Maine with you all this weekend!
