I am glad to hear that your son-In-law Is home. I only hope that he didn't see to much of the bad things while there. Life In Iraq can play on your emotions after returning home. He may experience every emotion known to man.

Please give him many thanks for me.

As an expat living in the UK I can't help but wonder what the 'mood' is like in the States over this war. Do you think the Republicans will pay a price for it in the upcoming elections? I know here in the UK Blair is treated with such contempt by the press and the people here just want the Brits OUT of Afganistan and Iraq - they're not OUR wars, what the blippin heck are we doing there????????

I am so thrilled for your family. I know the excitement of waiting for a loved one to come home. Your heart feels so full. A big "Thank You" to him and all of his loved ones who waited for him to return.

Well today was his first real day home. He went out and bought a Jeep!!!!!!!! The whole transportation system needs prayers now that he has been released with a jeep on our roads. Yikes.

That's funny. When my husband came home from his first deployment in Iraq about 3 years ago, he bought himself a new laptop computer two days after he got home and we bought a new house, a new television, and all new appliances within a month. All that tax free money I saved while he was gone was spent right away!

I am impressed that your daughter bought a house on her own. Buying a house is so complicated and so stressful! All of those contracts and inspectors, plus moving. Geez!
Take care,
Jean

I had the hardest year of my life but I fear the experience has changed him forever and that makes me so sad. He is withdrawn from us and I still miss my son.
Anyway I wanted to let those of you that don't know about know about Motomail! Go to motomail.com and put in your military person's info and then you can write them online and it will be hand delivered to them within 24 hours. I was thrilled to find it...I was able to keep him updated daily with very little time...no stamps and its free for anyone stationed in Iraq! He is in marines reserves and has 3 years left to serve!

Hi Junie,
I am so sorry your son Is "withdrawn" from your family. I've been there a few times and I understand exactly what he Is going through. I am no expert PTSD, but If he has PTSD please have him talk to a counselor. Maybe he doesn't know how to express himself. Iraq changed me a lot. I was withdrawn from my family when i got home, but I realized that I had that problem and worked hard to get over It. I don't think anyone really ever gets over things they may have seen while at war. Please, please keep talking to him and just keep letting him know that you care. If he doesn't want to talk to family maybe someone that has been there will be a big help. I know you love your son very much, just let him know that If or when he wants to talk that you are there for him.

If you would like for me to just talk to him about things I would be more than happy to. Please give him my thanks for serving our country.
