Poor Jappy! I hope the abx gets the infection under control and eases the pain. I have so many fillings... :( I hope I don't have to deal with this in the near future. I hope your root canal will be easy, quick and painless.

Jappy
So sorry to hear of your pain. I've had many a root canal and IMO the shots to numb the area are way more painful.

I hope your abot makes you feel better soon. Drink fluids if you can to flush the infection out. A little tylenol for the slight fever you may have. Maybe a straw would help you bypass the sensitive area when drinking.

Sending positive thoughts, prayers and healing hugs too (((((Jappy)))))

Sorry I'm late, Jappy, but yuck! I'm so sorry this misery has befallen you! I've never had a root canal (knock on simulated wood grain finish) but, I hope you'll get over this before that appointment!

Feel better, my Jappy friend.

Another late-comer and I'm so sorry Jappy that you have to go through this. But be assured you're not going alone!!!! Would you believe this Wednesday I also have an appointment with the dentist. Had a wicked toothache in 2006, did the antibiotics and the first phase of the root canal. My dentist is a good hour's drive away so it was easy to put off going again for the final thing, so.......I did. Now some infection is back under the root canal so looks like we'll start all over again. Also have to get a couple roots "dug" out from a tooth that broke off at the gumline.

I'm the biggest chicken going when it comes to the dentist, have to take antibiotic first for mitral valve prolapse and now have to check and see if and when to stop the Coumadin so I don't "bleed out". Like somebody else mentioned, I've had many root canals and the most painful part are the shots first. With my heart "thingy", have to be sure I get the shot without epinephrine.

What time is your appointment? Mine is 2 pm -- we can pray and think of each other!! BTW, where in NJ are you? I grew up in Hackettstown.

Take care and good luck.........:)

Hello my Jappy bud! Sorry that you are still having pain. The ABX should kick the infection, but you may have to take some sort of pain meds in the meantime. I worked for a dentist in the late 80's and root canals have come a long way.

They really don't hurt now, just a drag keeping your mouth open, but usually the dentist will give you a break. Take care Jappy and hope you can get some well deserved rest. Sending you hugs...

How did it go, Jappy?? Are you ??

Jappy 07-16-2008 07:41 PM

Hi everyone. Had the root canal done today. I was amazed, it
did not hurt. Todays dental work is great. I have always heard how
terrible and painful a root canal is.

I have to go back Aug 6th to get a post and crown for the tooth.

He filled it with something temporary to make sure the infection is
cleaned out of my system. Still has me on Antbot to make sure.

Judy how did you make out with your dental appt.?

Jappy

I'm so glad it went well for you. That's always the worst part of going to the dentist...the apprehension of it all. Glad it's over and the experience was good.

Didja get a new toothbrush from the dentist as a prize?? :D

DM 07-16-2008 08:01 PM

I'll bet Jappy got a sticker or a big plastic ring!!

Glad you have the root canal behind you, my lil Jappy bud.

Thanks for checking in and keep taking those AB's.
