My dear man, how horrible a fall!! The emotional part makes sense if you had a concussion or just that crappy labile stuff that comes with MS.

But come on, you're facing some scary stuff. No explanation you can think of for the fall? Then its the MS???

Do you live alone? (drink alone?) Ok I'll have one for you.

YOU are special to us here. Thanks for coming on and letting us in your business a bit.

Remember WE CARE ok?

PJames, I am so sorry about your fall, and unfortunately, I can say I know how you feel.

I had a bad fall 2 years ago and I broke much more than a finger, and eventually had to have a spinal fusion.

You are very lucky to be alive and feeling from the neck down. Make sure they check your vertebrae for fractures, too, especially your neck.

When you have a bad fall and hit your head you get brain trauma injuries. The action of your brain hitting inside your skull will cause lesions. They can be on the side you hit first and then opposite that side.

Also you can get spinal cord contusions depending on how you fell. These will also show up as lesions, but they are not MS lesions.

I believe an MTR is what they use to differentiate between brain trauma lesions and MS lesions. They are not different on the MRI.

Do you have spasming muscle movements since the accident? If so that would be incomplete spinal cord damage. I have that.

I reversed the curve of my neck in my accident. Has anyone looked at the curve of your neck?

I know this is so much to absorb and you may be on pain killers as well as muscle relaxers, so I won't add anymore. Take it easy and let your body heal. Again I am sooo sorry about this accident.

Pete, so sorry to hear about your fall, I am glad however that you seem to be on the same page with this doctor. I have hyperreflexes but also at times have the "dead" reflexes as well as inability to move toes or feet especially if the spasms are bad. He probably wants to evaluate your households safety so that in the future if you wish to get your home made accessible thru public funding you will be able to do that and to make suggestions to you as to what you would need in your home.

I went on a Parrothead cruise w/ the man, it was awesome...I have every CD he has ever made! Pouring the mojito's.........

Good grief......I hope you'll take it easy around those stairs in the future!! That's scary, though, and I'm glad you're feeling at least a little better. Take care of that broken finger and all the bumps and bruises.

Pete

I am sorry about the fall! I know how you feel. Although I didn't fall down stairs I fell down a hill and broke my ankle!

Take care of yourself and no more falling!!!

(PS....all those reflex tests...the hammer on the knee...my foot never moves...and I can't feel anything on the bottoms of my feet!)

Sorry about the fall. The safety check may be to to see if there are areas of improvement to avoid that again? Maybe to suggest things that could be done in your house to help avoid falls?

PS: I saw Jimmy in concert once and I think I am still high from it. lmao
