Thanks everyone for your well wishes! The pain is now manageable.

weegot5kiz, I was wondering the same about the mosquito post and this having anything to do with one another. Mosquito bites have too never bothered me they way they do this year.

Again, thanks!

I was stung multiple times (about 30) when I stepped in a hive about 10 years ago. I had no idea that they lived in the ground!! I'm not sure if they were yellowjackets or just regular bees but the pain was unbelievable!

We were cutting grass and I stopped my mower over one of their nests and I guess they didn't appreciate it....next thing I knew my legs were covered with them. Scared my DH to death!

Now, I pay attention to what's on the ground as well as what's flying around!

I shouldn't have read this before going to bed last night. I had nightmares.. Yellowjackets are the meanest little buggers in the bee/wasp family..

They will be anywhere they can build a hole....in the ground or in the house. We had to call the exterminators out more than once..... They built a hole around our patio and another time in the pipes of our chain link fence gate.

I'm a bee-a-phobic..

I'm glad you're better..

I am very allergic to these wasps. Some people think they are bees because they are so small. I carry a needle kit in case I am stung. I was told by an ER doc that I am between a person who swells excessively and/or dies. I am not sure about dying from them as I'll probably hyperventilate and die first. Thanks Doc! They scare the #@!# out of me.

My grandma would say soaking down some tobacco with saliva and applying to the sting is the best. ;)

yeah the tobacco one i have heard but not tried, mud works, as does ammonia, Kelly that was a yellow jackets nest thats were they nest, and if you step on it, they come a runnin, i always watch where i walk, been bit too many times glad im not like sandy or our one son, thats got to be a bit scary,

hope the bites are feeling better, my grams use to make a aspirin paste and apply it afterward to help the swelling and pain or discomfort, sorry i ddint think of that last night

You poor thing! Bees, wasps, hornets, they all hurt!

I was last stung as a child on the bottom of my foot. Since that time I've been lucky and avoided them successfully.

The big fluffy bees never bothered me (I think they're kind of cute!) and they're not aggressive, unless you disturb their homes! I had an infestation of black jackets in my rotted back porch last summer and had to hire a pro to remove them. Couldn't go near the area for 2 days at his recommendation until they were indeed dead.

Yes, they are not the friendly little honey bees, but rather angry little wasps, to be avoided big time..

Thanks Sandy..:)
