Default endocrinologist anyone??

have any of you seen a endocrinologist? and if so what for ..and what is this kind of dr about..hehehee

I was at drs with assistant friday, we were talking about all my sxs...and she got with my dr, and the dr wants me to see a endocrinologist...something about checking all my hormone levels and such...and deeper thyroid testing....

is there a reason for deeper thyroid testing if I pass the usual thyroid test via bloodwork..??? doesnt hurt to see another kind of dr...but I think we are off track...but heck maybe the off track drs is what I need to get on track..hehee

undx here as you might know....thanks anyone wanting to share...and give ideas and opinions...to maybe why see one....she called quick and told me this as they were closed..so I cant recall tonight to ask more....of why...

I did catch her and say I want a referral to yet one more neuro...hehe...so they will do that too...hugsss all, sarah

I've seen an endo for years because I'm hypothyroid (Hashimoto's). Not sure what they would mean by "deeper" thyroid testing but this may not a bad type of doctor to see. They deal with anything hormonally related. There are many conditions that can cause neurological type sx if hormone levels are off and at least a few of them are on the standard list to rule out when testing for MS. While my endocrinologist is not an MS specialist, he certainly has an understanding of auto-immunity and he's shed some light for me on several things. At the very least, you'll have another set of eyes and ears on your case. You never know what might come out of it, even if the root of the problem is not endocrinological. Here's a brief overview of the endocrine system:

an endocrinologist is an MD of the glands, and the fluids they produce.

They help people with diabetes, and thyroid stuff. kidney stuff, and liver stuff. any gland, and its fluids are what you see an endo for.

hope you feel better.
