OK, to say that I am being knocked down while I am down is an understatement. I am in need of a new manual chair and my dr. wrote a script for one but Medicare told me yesterday it could take SIX MONTHS!!! I can't wait that long. I am not using my chair much but today (for example) I needed to use it, and my old chair is dead. I can't afford the $1,800 for the chair and didn't need this right now.
I am actually too tired to make this a decent rant....make up the end as you wish, but make it a good one, you know how I like to complain, lol.

It could take up to 6 months but if you call a lot and get to know someone there, they can push it along. It's all about getting someone there to push your case along just a little faster. My mom got new seating unit for her wheelchair it it really took a lot of phone calls. In the meantime, call the NMSS - they have a loaner locker and can provide you something while you wait.

Maybe check out this site to see if it can help.
http://www.modestneeds.org/ I have to admit I haven't done the leg work in it myself but this came from a blog I read often. She claims that she checked it all out and I do believe her. It may be helpful to anyone on here who is in need of something. Good luck, Weebs |

TAlk to your MD. MEDICARE MUST RENT ONE for you, while you wait.
it may not be pretty, or what you wanted in a regular chair, but your MD calling medicare will cut alot of slack. Have him give you a NEW RX for a RENTAL chair for a 6 month period of time, and BE SPECIFIC on the RX. Go to the wheel chair place and ta da! there ya go. hope that helps.
