You are on low dose of Baclofen. I 'started' out on 10mg 3 x daily. I would talk to your neuro about increasing your Baclofen and give that a try.

And as some mentioned, stretching daily helps with spasticity. A lukewarm bath will help too as would swimming doing the NMSS's exercises with trained therapists talking you through the exercises. All of our NMSS's groups in this area have this free option.

You don't have to be diagnosed with MS to attend the meeting and/or swim classes. There is no annual fee that is demanded or required either.

Take care.

Hi Kelly :). I have joint pain too. It stinks :(. I take Lorcet ( a traditional pain med) and it really helps. My worst area is my hips. My neuro believe it's caused because of my gait which makes complete sense since no other cause can be found. The neuropathic pain meds don't help because it isn't neuropathic pain :). Since we have MS, would hope the the neuros wouldn't believe we are just looking to get a scrip for strong pain meds for fun. I know, I know....that's wishful thinking, huh? I hope the Trazodone I helping. I can't stand the cotton mouth feeling either! I keep a glass of water by my bed at night :). I hope you're getting some sleep  .

Kelly, I remember one of my friends with MS had found a "natural" remedy, which she shared with another MS friend. According to both of them, it really works for joint pain :):

"Get golden raisins (not the brown ones) and soak them in GIN, in a glass pan or dish. Let sit on cupboard for 4-5 days with paper towel over the top. Then put them in a glass jar or just put the glass pan in refrigerator. Eat 9-20 a day."

... and this tidbit:

Q. I am interested in trying the gin-soaked raisins for joint pain, but I have a question about the safety of eating the raisins and taking anti-anxiety medication. Is it safe to eat 9 raisins and take Xanax the same day? I have to take Xanax sometimes and have read that alcohol should not be used while taking it.

A. You are absolutely right that alcohol and sedatives like Xanax (alprazolam) do not mix. We had the alcohol content of nine gin-soaked raisins analyzed and learned that it amounts to about one drop. That should not be enough to cause problems, even when you need to take Xanax.

What if I omit the raisins and just drink the Gin? That should help, right?? :D

Really, though, I appreciate the suggestion. I might just have to try it!

Well, if each raisin only holds one drop of gin, it must be something in the combination and "soaking" that is actually helping the joint pain.

It might be an idea to wash them down with a little extra though. :icon_idea: Use enough, and you probably won't feel any pain what-so-ever. ;) :D

I just posted on the insomnia thread that Jim is hurting too and can't sleep at night. His spasms are at their worst. He's sleeping now because they kept him up. I will say it seems to have started when the weather became hotter and more humid. I hope you feel better soon.

:)

I use an over the counter that my PCP recommended and also one of the "members" on here too!

Hope you feel better soon, Kelly.

Cherie, I heard about the gin/raisin remedy for arthritis many years ago. I think we tried it with my mother but I honestly can't remember if it worked at all. (I'm sure she enjoyed it though! :p)
