Confused Numbness in Arms / cramps in my legs???

I woke up numerous times during the night with my arms totally numb and hurt - oh my gosh did it ever hurt!! I don't know if I was clutching the pillow or what - gosh they still hurt this morning. Along with twice waking up with cramps in my legs - once I was in tears it hurt so bad.

is there a lack of something in my diet or just MS related??

Assuming you are still on the baclofen, try adding bananas to your diet, along with other potassium rich foods. You could have a shortage of potassium in your diet, and that will add to the cramping.

My neuro also prescribed tizanidine when I go to bed. It makes you drowsy but it also cuts down on the RLS, night cramps, and the stiffness in the morning.

Hope you find something that helps, leetle Yabbit!

Ouch. I get that too, it is MS spasms in my case, and some neuropathy. I'm wondering if you're taking enough Baclofen at bed time, or if it isn't working well for you.

Do you stretch before you lie down? I do it right in bed before I plop. Sometimes a percussion massager helps the leg/foot spazzes calm down. I admit though, there are nights when I get up every 30 minutes to take more Zanaflex until it finally kicks in.

Hopefully, tonight will be a little better for you.

I cut back on my Baclofen to saver it before I ran out.... (the whole no insurance or money thing) and I think that was the problem, nope I don't think I was taking enough. Today I have taken my full prescription - I am hoping with that plus my Sleepy Sleep medicine I will rest better!

Wanted to pass along a phone number should you be without prescriptions...1-866-728-4368--Bridges to Access. They will direct you to the drug company that carries the drug you need. For all drugs you order a 3 month supply.

If you need Wellbutrin, call 1-866-728-4368.

Baclofen, Klonopin & Xanax and a number of other drugs comes from Rx Outreach if I remember correctly; but most importantly it includes the middle income people. 1-800-769-3880.

You can even have Part D coverage which doesn't cover Xanax or Klonopin and get these drugs if your income allows; 1-800-769-3880.

Help from MS disease modifying drugs:

AVONEX: 1-800-456-2255

BETASERON: 1-877-836-5724

COPAXONE: 1-800-887-8100

NOVANTRONE: 1-877-447-3243

REBIF: 1-877-447-3243

TYSABRI: 1-800-456-2255

Yep....I have to agree with RW! Potassium via bananas or Magnesium via a supplement. These are both ways I know of that'll help you to overcome the spasms and/or cramps.

I daresay there are other ways, and probably heaps of medications that will do the same thing, but I'm more inclined to go towards the natural ways if they work.

I'm so sorry that you've been landed with this on top of everything else........I hope all settles soon for you.

Thanks 0357 for the information - I am going to call the number for Baclofen tomorrow morning!

Thanks Koala - I was taking a Magnesium supplement but ran out last week, I didn't go and get it for I didn't think it was doing anything - I guess I was wrong!!! (not the first time and certainly won't be the last) I will go and get it today.... Thank you so much!

I only got up three times during the night last night which is better than the night before. My arms are still very weak / numb / prickley this morning and my legs are wobbley - I need to call the neuro in the morning as well and let him know what is going on. Nothing I can do about it right at the moment but I can at least report it right?

Probably a good idea to report it.

Boy, I feel for ya. I had a lot of pain and spasms that would keep me awake or wake me in 2003. That was not fun. Hope you get it figured out soon.

Since the MonSter made it's lovely appearance for me, I noticed that my arms go to sleep when I'm sleeping a lot. I don't have to be putting pressure or anything on them. It's not positional either. But luckily no pain.
