Ok I'll start this by saying I have never in my life had a problem with unusual anxiety.
I started rebif in February of this year and about June I started not being able to sleep because of strange racing thoughts. I would wake up feeling very anxious and paniky sometimes. Heart racing and you know that worry feeling in the pit of your stomach. This feeling is much worse on the nights I do my shot. When I was on betaseron I was taking lexapro for depression from it. Worked very well. After being off of the beta for a year I was weaned off and the depression didn't return. (that was about 2 years ago) This is different from that feeling. Lately I have been taking benadryl on shot nights so I can atleast get about 6 hours of good sleep. I have a dr's appt coming up very soon and bringing this problem up but, not sure what can be done. I know there is help out there just not sure what avenues to explore and ask about. Any help and/or ideas would greatly be appreciated. Sorry this got so long. |

I don't know about Rebif, but MS sure can cause Anxiety and Depression. I acquired the anxiety first, which lead to depression.
My Neuro/Psych said it was a direct cause of MS. Buspar then Paxil saved my life and now on Prozac. Don't take Prozac first though... not good for Anxiety.. I hope it's not the Rebif, if it's helping you otherwise. ![]()

I know with Copaxone anxiety is a common side effect... I don't know how common it is with Rebif.
Anyway, years ago I was put on Klonopin (generic=Clonazepam) to help me get a good night's sleep. Not only does it does this but too it helps with my anxiety...big time. For those on or thinking of taking Klonopin or Xanax there is a drug company that will give you a 3 month supply for a co-pay of $30. This is for the low to middle income people. Those without insurance OR Medicare Part D prescription program which does NOT cover either of these drugs. 1-800-769-3880. Take care. Last edited by 0357; 09-06-2008 at 01:14 PM. Thanks to both of you.
I do believe it is a direct result of the MS and possibly the medication.(as I didn't have a problem with either depression or anxiety while not on it) However, I'm not stopping the rebif because of this. I will find a way or something to help. |
