I am switching from Lexapro to Paxil for anxiety. Lexapro worked very well for me but I just couldn't handle the sweating and acne breakouts. It seems most AD's cause that reaction in me. I am just trying to find one that doesn't. Any good or bad experiences with Paxil?

It's funny you should start a thread on this as I too just switched from Lexapro to Paxil. I felt the Lexapro was not working well for me after two years and besides that it cost me $80 a month copay. So if I went through the insurance drug warehouse for 90 days supply that was $240 at a whack.

Since the switch I have felt much better and more alive and less like I was just drifting through life with little or no emotion. My copay is now only $10 a month and that is one heck of a savings. I do believe the difference in my life now and how I'm living it is somewhat due to a change in my attitude and the effectiveness of the Paxil. Even my therapist noticed the big change and I hadn't seen her for a month.

I personally think you're on the right track and keep it up. I've noticed NO side effects from the med at all.

Thanks Craig. I am hoping this works for me. I just picked mine up from the pharmacy. I am always a little nervous before starting new medication. That's the anxiety showing up again!

I can't believe your doctor didn't try to give you something that could be taken as a generic to save you the money sooner. I am guessing that's why the Lexapro was so $$$. That is a lot of money!

Hi Jean, I had a thread here, not too long ago, about my wonderful Paxil starting to lose it's magic, after my 5 yrs or 6 yrs on it.

I'm still on Paxil and until I find something as good, I will remain on it. It's still working, just not as well. What I'd like to do is increase the doseage, but I'm already on the recommended high dose.

Anyway, I think you should try it and see if it works as well for you. For me, it's been great.

I found I just could not tolerate Paxil at all. It made me so nauseous, all I wanted to do was puke my guts out I gave up but found once I got on LDN, my depression vanashed totally. My neuro told me that another of his patients had the same positive effect with the LDN as well. Guess I'm going to stick with my LDN for a ton of reasons and this effect is the best of all the good results I have had taking it.

I quit paxil last year after 3yrs. it was numbing the life out of me. there is a withdrawle to it. like a electric shocking for about 3 to 5 months, my regular doc tells me now there is some drug that will sub that feeling out. my dad dose well with it though.I am just dealing with it,,,,,)

Well it is only day 3. It is a relief to be taking something. I could feel my frustration and anxiety building, especially with the holidays coming.

I went to my dermatologist because of my skin, which I thought was from the sweating from Lexapro. Turns out that it is common to have this acne at my age. He gave me some antibiotics to help. Maybe I didn't need to stop the Lexapro after all. I'm not sweating as much with the Paxil though, which is nice.

Thanks for asking Sally. I don't think it is working as well as Lexapro for me but the holidays are coming and that always increases my anxiety. My inlaws and brother and sister-in law with their two kids are all coming for Thanksgiving. My husband is always very tense when his mother is around.

My husband came home from Iraq last month because my MS was giving me trouble. I am home with two kids and we all got the stomach flu. I fell a few times and that was pretty scary for me. I also had a few bouts with Optic Neuritis after he left. Since he has been home I have been much better. It's the little things that stress me out.

I can handle the two kids and maintain the house, I just have trouble when the cat throws up or someone has to go to the doctor or anything that is extra. It's like one little thing is too much.

Anyway, he might be redeploying in March but we'll wait and see.
I hope you are doing well now too with the holidays coming. Are you doing anything special?
