I'm right there with you all. Seem the more people = more chaos and the overload is painful and confusing. I startle often especially when doing something repetitive like crocheting or even the dishes (no dishwasher).

I still have no rhyme or reason for it, but it seems a common sx for us MSers. Thanks for the thread.

HA!

I empathize karousel, as I have one chatterbox daughter too.

From a very young age, I have had to teach her:

"There are 2 (or 3 ... or 5...) people in the room." "Each of us get the same amount of time to choose to talk, or choose to be quiet." "This does not mean it's "free time" for you to occupy the silence talking non-stop". :p

I've also had to tell her many times that she doesn't need to say every single thing that comes into her mind. ;)

Cherie

LOL!! :):p

I can't tolerate noise either. The idea of going out where there will be people congregating/talking, makes me cringe. I always say I enjoy my own company :)

I have TN. Certain noises can actually cause severe stabbing like spasms in my ear. My audiologist actually removed certain freguencies from my hearing aids due to this.

Yep. Ditto.
And I used to be the one making all the noise.
Mooseasaurus Rex= Big and loud.
I have to tell my sons to lower thier voices.

Used to DJ at clubs. The louder the better.
Don't know if it's the M.S. or just getting old.:o

Last night I had to go to my parents house with my DH and DD. My DH had to help my father with his tvs. There were 3 tvs going, my father talking, my mother talking, my DD skipping through the room chatting away. Then my father asks me to call the cable company and ask a question. After we left and got to Lowe's for a little shopping, my DD had to hold my hand because I felt so dizzy and disoriented from all that noise!!

Me too!! I definitely think it's the MS. Before my last relapse, I wasn't like this at all. I can barely carry on a conversation with more than one person at a time :o. In the past, I loved to blast the radio in the car an now I don't turn it on at all. I really love music but now it drives me nuts! It's really embarrassing to go to a party and try to find a quiet corner somewhere. Everyone thinks I must be antisocial or something :). At home, everyone understands (most of the time ). One more reason this disease sucks :(. It's actually one of the things about MS that bothers me the most.

I thought it was just me because of the migraines.

I have a big family, lots of neices, several nephews. Everyone comes for all of their BDays. Now, they're bigger and many have babies of their own. It is loud.

I drink.

Sensory overload!! Ugh!! Loud, crowded restaurants and stores. I completely lose the ability to concentrate. DH and I went to a friend's birthday party. Four friends that I hadn't seen for several months approached me all at once. They were all talking to me at the same time. Add the noise from the rest of the party.......I just wanted to run out the door.

I know!! And I'm afraid people will think I'm rude...or snobby  if I tend to go off on my own but I feel like my head is going to explode if I have to stay confined in a room with too much activity or noise!!
