Lightbulb anyone here

with severe fatigue should get tested for B12 levels.

Once you start taking B-complex (especially in high doses) you
skew your blood work.

Low B12 is more common than people AND DOCTORS think.
In Japan they medicate anyone with a reading of less than 500.
In this country 200 is considered "normal" and it is not.

1mg /day minimum is a good place to start. that is 1000mcg
of methyl type which is the activated form.

Some conditions are showing up as low B12 in the spinal fluid.
Fibro has shown this fact for example.
For MS:

Vitamin B12, demyelination, remyelination and repair in multiple sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and vitamin B12 deficiency share common inflammatory and neurodegenerative pathophysiological characteristics. Due to similarities in the clinical presentations and MRI findings, the differential diagnosis between vitamin B12 deficiency and MS may be difficult. Additionally, low or decreased levels of vitamin B12 have been demonstrated in MS patients. Moreover, recent studies suggest that vitamin B12, in addition to its known role as a co-factor in myelin formation, has important immunomodulatory and neurotrophic effects. These observations raise the questions of possible causal relationship between the two disorders, and suggest further studies of the need to close monitoring of vitamin B12 levels as well as the potential requirement for supplementation of vitamin B12 alone or in combination with the immunotherapies for MS patients.

We have many posts on the vitamin forum about B12. Take a l@@k.

Hey, if it works for you then great! Personally, I can't take even a multi-vitamin, it makes my symptoms act up. I take a few supplements, D3, fish oil, calcium, etc... but have to get the rest from diet.

I have fatigue all the time, but sometimes it's much worse (like the past few days?) and for those times I have Provigil that's working just fine for me this time around.

YAY Punk!!! Glad to finally hear from you and that you are doing so much better!!

And I think it'd be fun to pee neon green, I'm all for that! I'd purposely be peeing (and not flushing of course) in the toilets of everyone I know! heehee

I have found out this week with no electricity that my fatigue is more profound. I don't know if it is stress or just the fact that I don't have my C PAP on at night but I'm betting on the C PAP.

now i am not saying this will work for everyone... but i wanted to share just in case anyone wants to try it..

my formula to fight the fatigue.
(actually its nothing special but it works for me)

2 cups of normal coffee during the day. usually a cup in the morning and one around 3pm when i would usually crash..

4 vitamin b-complex tabs 2 in the morning 2 about 3pm.. bottle says just take 2 a day but you would be hard pressed to OD on "B" Vitamins.. although at that dose you will pee the brightest green ever...

400mg of magnesium oxide once in the morning..

i have no medical facts to back up why this works for me but it does.. and has been for the last 3 months.. heck even if it is a placebo effect.. fine.. i am still not needing a 2hr nap during the day..
I have been fighting the extreme fatigue/depression for several weeks now. It has gotten so bad I haven't been able to work.. I would like to know any solutions that may help....how does you stomach tolerate vitamins ... especially the 'b's?? I usually don't feel really well after taking them. I would love to try the vitamin route. Currently my doc has me taking 80mg of Adderall. It is a medication for ADD. It really helps me with my concentration but most all if I didn't take it everday, I would just sleep. Oh, and I don't drink coffee. I really can't stand the taste of it. Maybe I could try Dr. Pepper with it instead. AHAH

Oh the peeing bright green would be a bonus. It would totally freak out my kids and husband. I will tell them I am slowly being turned into an alien. AHAH

Lightbulb some people report

heart burn or reflux from the higher dose Bcomplexes.
I am not sure which ingredient is responsible for this.

The B12 ONLY stand alone supplements do not cause this.

for 9 cents a day, it is certainly worth a try! Go for the activated methylcobalamin (not the synthetic cyano--which needs 4 steps in the body to convert it).

Methyl version is not commonly in stores. Most of the posters I know buy it online at places like www.iherb.com
