Default What would you do?

Well my MS has gotten worse there is no denying I am having many problems balance, fatigue, numbness on whole left side of body.Well went to the doctor Monday after having to go to emergency room over the weekend for steroids and she wants to up my neurontin to 1200mg a day, started me on Baclofen and went up on my Nortriptylan to 100mg a night. The Baclofen is very strong but I can tell a noticable differance if I take one whole pill and half it twice a day. Here is the problem.I have been working 50hrs a week around a stove and alone unsupervised. I have thought about quitting or stepping down as a manager because I have burnt myself numerous times not to mention falling. Would you step down or quit. I have so many bills and medical wise I keep on getting more and more. I am at a crossroad. But I at the point I really am scared of being alone with nobody there. What if I pass out or burn myself because I fall. I just don't know anymore. What would you do if this was the case. Of course it says don't make no rash decisions while in a flare.Hugs to all.

Cole, it was the hardest decision I ever had to make, but the MS made it for me.

Is it possible to bring someone in to work alongside you?

On your medical bills, call the billing departments directly and set up a monthly payment plan. Just about all of them will agree to a very small sum, and most will do it interest-free. Further, many will find miraculous ways to cut the actual bill rather dramatically.

Look into your options with work in terms of other opportunities, determine with your doctor whether it is advisable for you to continue.

I sure hope you can come to a peaceful solution or decision soon. I know exactly how frustrating it all is and would never want to relive any of it!

Have you thought about, maybe its the heat from the stove, that is making your MS act up? I do think safety is an issue here, but only you can make this call, maybe going to manager would get you out of the heated areas a lot more and allow you to have more energy for a managers position, I just know i love cooking and make some good meals here, but it really reaks havoc on me, I hope you fine a solution, soon, and becareful please.,

I agree w/Frank. Let them know you feel unsafe working around the stove and maybe they can move you somewhere else...and cooler, too. Heat makes my MS sx go through the roof! Summer is not my friend....I live for cool weather.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. It's no fun...I know.

i struggled for a long time before it became apparent i couldn't work anymore.
i would look into options for another job within your comp.
see if they could make some reasonable accommodations per ADA guidelines.

i'd also see your dr to start building a case to not be able to work.
that will be important to document in your chart should you decide you can't do your job. and that will be important should you apply for ssdi.

good luck. i know how hard this decision is.
