Thumbs up Copaxone posted some very positive results!

Copaxone is my first DMD (as I was recently diagnosed) and I only began Copaxone in May 2008 (just after my second relapse). I have been 'stable' or 'improving' since, so it appears to be working well for me.

That's very promising news. After being on Avonex for 2-1/2 years and suffering major problems due to the interferons - neuro said my body couldn't handle it any longer, it was like poison to me - I've been DMD free since 10/04. If I do decide to go back on a tx in the future, it will most likely be Copaxone.

I am glad that Copaxone is working well for you. I have been on Copaxone for a few years now and, aside from lumps, I have done well with no side effects.

DMD means "Disease Modifying Drug".

If you hear the term "CRABs", that's referring to all of the DMDs as a collective.

C: Copaxone
R: Rebif
A: Avonex
B: Betaseron

Copaxone is a one daily, subcutaneous injection (subcutaneous means, under the skin, or in the skin 'layers')

Thumbs Up

This is absolutely awesome. I remember when I was first diagnosed, and many referred to Copaxone as a less-effective treatment than the interferons. This is great for those who can't tolerate interferon therapy.

I was on it 3+ years, it did fine by me MS wise but too many side-effects for me.

Starting Avonex soon.

I'm glad Copaxone has been shown to do well, it seems the DMD with the least side-effects for a good many people.

Tysabri is also a DMD but not one of the original CRABs. They should have named is with something beginning with S so it could have been CRABS.

I remember all the nay-sayers on MSW putting Copaxone down, now I wonder what they will have to say.

Sassy,

I did pretty well on Avonex. I did have the one day of feeling fairly blah the next day after that shot but I was still able to do light stuff around the house. I hope you'll tolerate it well.

Default Thanks For Info

One more thing..I've been on Rebif for about 3 months. I hate that I need to watchg my liver among side effects. Now I am noticing my walking is a little worse. Does Capaxone have a better recovery?

Thanks!
Mary
