I had a weird/somewhat scary experience today. During my MRI ( prior to injection of dye) I lost all feeling in my hands. I could not move the left one at all, and could only move 2 fingers on my right hand. They also hurt. I got all sensation and movement back afterwards. It took about 10 minutes for this to happen. I have never experienced this before although they occasionally get a little tingly.

That is very very odd. And scary. Did the attending physicians say anything about this?

Sounds like a cervical disc issue depending on how they had you laying in the MRI.

No attending physicians for present as far as I know. They did put something under my neck that they have never used before because I said I was uncomfortable. I will tell my neuro about it at my appt on Tuesday.

I hope it's nothing and was related to the machine and position of your body.

my first thought was pressure on your back due to laying on the table or perhaps a pinched nerve in the arm or shoulder area, I can not recall if I have ever gone numb, ususally cause i too freaked out and my mind is thinking about going into a torpedo tube

I just went for an MRI of my full spine yesterday and I was in the machine 3 hours. My legs felt slightly numb. It's hard to hold completely still for a long time in there, isn't it? I hurt really bad today from laying in there so long. The only thing that got me through it was I was able to listen to Howard Stern on Sirius the whole time I was in there lol

Did you have both brain and C-Spine done? They always have to reposition me when they do both....the c-spine is really uncomfortable. Could have been just the way you were laying. I hope they put this in the report they send to your doctor....if they don't I'd be sure and make him aware of it.
Good luck...and let us know what the doctor says about it, OK? ![]()

I just had the brain and brain stem done.
It was worse than when something goes to sleep. I could not feel anything or move them, yet they hurt. I did feel as though I was positioned somewhat differently today, so hopefully that was the cause. Desinie, wow, I could not have stood 3 hours. Plus my facility does not have music. |
