Hi,
I just talked to Beth. She sounds better but not good, I hope that makes sense. She is still very sick.

The bleeding is from a hiatal hernia that they hadn't known she had. The doctor didn't say what they will do about that but the bleeding has slowed and she isn't vomiting anymore which is a good thing.

She is still on oxygen, coughing, coughing, coughing and short of breath. They think she has a bronchial infection.

Today they are supposed to start physical therapy because she is so weak which is understandable because she hasn't felt well since just after thanksgiving.

She may go home tomorrow. I am concerned about that but they don't keep anyone very long anymore.

She got 4 large envelopes full of our messages...she was in shock. The volunteer said she must be one well liked person. I'm sorry you guys have never met her-she's as nice in person, probably more, than she is here. She is very, very special to me.

She said to say thank you to each and everyone of you for your well wishes! She is humbled.

So, that's it for now. I am calling her again this afternoon because she wasn't so short of breath today so decided she could talk at least twice to me. Yesterday I didn't feel that way and only called once because of the difficulty she had breathing and talking.

Sassy - Thank you so much for updating us. :hug::hug: I am so glad she enjoyed all the messages and I hope that all the love and kindness will help her in getting better.

She's coming home today! And Koala she said she feels very loved and wants all of you to know how much she appreciates your love and well wishes.

The volunteer just rolled her eyes and smiled when she delivered this mornings huge delivery of ecards!! But please don't send anymore because she won't be there. :))

She said she'll get online in a couple days when her strength is regained.

She's home and glad to be there.

She said they found a tear in her esophagus which probably was causing most of the bleeding. They put her on Prilosec and said to eat soft food for a few days and that should heal.

She has a bacterial infection so she is on a strong antibiotic.

And her hiatal hernia is laying on her diaphragm. She will have to deal with that when she is stronger.

So...she is one big sickie! Poor baby. But she sounds better than she did 3 days ago. Is that sort of like saying, "but you look good"!

She is able to talk more than 5 minutes now without being totally out of breath so that is an improvement.

She promised me she would follow doctor's orders and stay in bed for at least 3 days!

Thanks for the update on our lil Bannet, Sassy. She'd better stay in bed 3 days or I think her fan club is going to be all over her! :D

Just stay warm and comfy for the next few weeks while at home.

Rest and try to relax as much as you can so that you body can resolve any problems naturally.

Tania and I have been pulling for you ever since we go word from St. Brenda about your hospital stay...so just know that there are dozens of people here pulling for you too.

Think about Kona....and save what you can so that you can make the trip of a lifetime. You will love it. Tania and I will collect all of the maps of the great "off the beaten path" places to go and eat for you. Just give us a yell when you are ready.;)

i'm thinking of you today beth.
i hope you're recovering well.

I talked to her again last night and her voice is 90% the old Bethie's. Thank You, God!

She is still weak but slowly regaining some strength. She is even going to attempt the end of her shopping today, which I told her I didn't think was a good idea. She may not get out of her driveway today tho, we got some more snow on top of our recent 10 inches and it is blowing like crazy out there.

She is no longer throwing up but is nauseated but probably from the strong antibiotic for the bacterial infection she has/had. No blood which probably means her esophagus is healed or healing.

She sees her doctor on the 29th to see what will be done about the hiatal hernia.

Her husband was putting up lights on the tree which has been in their living room for a couple weeks now waiting for her to get well. I didn't ask who puts on the decorations but hopefully her boys helped.

So, thanks for the prayers and well wishes for our friend who is one of my bestest friends. I know the notes in the hospital meant the world to her.
