sally...what was it that had you kinda iffy on the coloidial silver? so far from the press ive been seeing its an effective broadspectrum anti microbial and things dont seem to be able to mutate to a resistant strain because of it. i thought it sounded kinda good. except that part about turning yourself blue if you over do it

I'm not sure but, I read awhile back, that is was a lot of hype and that it could be dangerous.. Just be sure you check the reputable sites about it, before you try it..

Smile LDN for PPMS in YVR

Hello, I live in Vancouver where my mum was diagnosed with PPMS just a couple of years ago. She is in her late 70s. She was on chemo through UBC, but went off it because the side effects were quite hard on her, and she didn't see any benefit from the therapy.

Now she seems to be getting steadily worse...so we were thinking about approaching her doctor about LDN.

Does anyone know of it being prescribed by any Vancouver-based doctors?

Thanks in advance for any comments -- I just joined the list, and looking forward to hearing from anyone.

Hi TL,

I know that Cherie (lady_express44) gets her Rx for LDN from a Dr. in Vancouver and I believe she told me that there is a Dr. at the UBC MS clinic who will prescribe it. I just printed a bunch of stuff from a couple of websites and some points Cherie gave me and my GP prescribed it without problem.

I'm sure Cherie will come on with more info when she has time.

I read LDN helps rid the brain of excess Glutamate. This follows..

"Thus, while the Mayo researchers propose finding ways to block glutamate, the benefits of low dose naltrexone and beta lactam antibiotics lie in their ability to reduce glutamate excess"

I was looking into amino acids to boost growth hormone to heal me quicker from exercises. Glutamine is what's in 1 of the combo pills. The other is L-Ornithine + L-Arginine.

I never found any one that could tell me the difference between Glutamine, Glutamate, Glutamic Acid.
Glutamic Acid = 1 of the 4 Copaxone ingredients.
Glutamate = no good by what I read for us.
Glutamine = ?

I'm courious also about the correlation between lesions and sx. I only have 2 small lesions. I have sx all the time, lead legs, TN, the hug, pain in my hands, slow digestion, foot pain. My neuro doesn't understand why I have the pain I do, I guess, because it doesn't correlate to my lesions.

Not everything is related to MS. There could be something else entirely going on that's causing your pain. I have to remind myself not to blame everything on MS. It's hard not to.....because 9 times out of 10 it is because of MS. But there's always that time it's not.

I'm not sure Roady. Best to ask your Doc or pharmacist. Maybe someone else here can tell you.

Welcome to NeuroTalk.
