Default FYI: Surgeries

I am having a hysterectomy March 2. Then my neuro is referring me to a neuro surgeon for my lower back. He did an MRI and thinks they can help me out. Actually he said he can tell I've been in a great amount of pain for years. If I could just get rid of some of the pain that is not related to the ms, maybe the ms would seem more manageable.

But my neuro did say that he communicates closely with the surgeons, because surgery could throw me into an exaserbation (sp). If so, we will just have to deal with it. Hopefully not... and everything will be smooth sailing!!!

Wow, Friend -- I hope you look back in a few weeks and wished you had done it sooner.

Hoping everything works out perfectly for you.

Thanks Rochelle,
I know I will have no regrets. Just be glad when it is all over with. I already wish I'd done it sooner. I have gone too many years living with pain that I should have had a dr tell me we could get rid of. So I'm glad to have drs at this time who care!

Good Idea about making meals ahead of time. Thanks!

Good luck with the hyster F2U. I'm sure like a lot of us, you'll be so pleased when the operation is over and done with.

I don't know why we don't have a self destruct button for our uterus when we're finished with it! They seem to cause so many problems that we females would rather not have to go through. It would be so much simpler if they would just shrivel up on command.

You may even find that some of your back pain eases as well. We all know all too well how our reproductive organs can contribute to the back pains that we women seem to suffer, and that's not including those with spinal problems like it sounds like you have Friend.

Unfortunately the possibility of a post-op relapse is a bit of a lottery. Some get them, some don't. I sure hope that you're in the don't get category.

Good luck with the surgery.

Default Hi Anne,

I would be all for a self-destruct button. As if we haven't gone through enough every month on top of child birth, just when the kids are about all raised, now I get to have "extra" female fun!!! Oh boy!

I'll tell you, at this point I'm ready to take the risk of a post-op relapse. Hopefully I won't have to go through that. But if so, at least there will seem as though there will be a light at the end of the tunnel!

Thanks for your encouraging words!!!
