Huh was my exact reaction...well, at least I wouldn't have wrinkles in the areas where my muscles were spastic and I'd inject Botox

I have the twitching eyelid, upper and lower thing, along with the lip twitch.
While I always liked Elvis, I never wanted to look like him. My neuro told me that it is the spasticity and if it was that annoying he could do a botox injection to calm it. He said it would last about 6 months and that we would use the rest of the syringe to inject in any wrinkles I wanted gone so as not to waste the rest of the Botox in the syringe!

I don't have MS but have a condition that is fairly similar called RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy)!
Botox has been suggested for me has I have really bad Dystonia's and Myoclonic Spasms! My first reaction when my Neurologist suggested the Botox was "Are you serious ... how exactly would it help me?!?!" and he said that it might calm the muscles down and stop them from spasming so much and offer me at least some relief! I thought it was pretty interesting and mentioned it to my Pain Management Doctor to see what his opinion was and he said that he wouldn't do it as it could make me a lot worse!! I have had injections into my RSD leg and they made me sooo much worse ... my leg just couldn't tolerate the injections at all!! I have spoken to people who have said that Botox really helped for them but I guess everyone is different - at the moment though, I don't know if I am prepared take the risk and end up being unable to walk short distances again! It is interesting though!!

I had Botox in my leg for a spasm that lasted months. It helped me and I would do it again (in fact I have done a total of 3 times for intractible spasms)

Botox was actually being used for medical problems long before they started using it in the cosmetic realm. My neurologist was instrumental in the trials for its use in treating torticollis and dystonia.
They've also been using it for other neurological problems like those associated with a neurogenic bladder. The media never tells the whole story. That wouldn't be nearly as eye-catching. ![]() |
