Default Took my first Avonex shot today!

Well I did it! I did my first shot today. Had my husband and daughter with my sister and the nurse helping me through it. After I bit of hesitation I gave myself the shot. It was not that bad. But am i feeling nasty right now. I got headaches and chills. I took some Advil to cope with it but once it wears off, it comes down hard on me.

I just want to say I'm proud of myself for doing this when i thought I was not going to have the strength to inject myself.

You may find that Naproxen (Aleve) works best for side effects, and it does last much longer.

Now, drink plenty of water, get some rest, dont push yourself till you feel better, and let that wonderful family wait on you for a day or two.

Good for you! I have yet to inject myself, and I really admire you! My husband does my Avonex shot--he's a tattoo artist, so needles don't phase him! I'm hoping to get where you are, someday!

I hope your side effects don't last too long. Mine lasted much longer than the estimated 3-6 months, but some people are barely phased by them. I found that keeping myself extremely hydrated did the most for my side effects. I know they're terrible in the beginning, but I promise they get better!
