Add yogurt to your milkshakes. the natural bacteria will help reculture your guts.

They also sell acidopholus pills, and liquids. lactobacillis is another good pill to get. Make sure your yogurt is either home made, or the lable says ACTIVE cultures. Many yogurts on the market dont have active stuff in there, just yummy candy flavors. Stoneyfield is great if you have that in your area.

I hope you feel better. Flagyl is a suckie drug. VERY powerful, and effective, but will throw ya.

i'm coming on so late to your thread that you must be well by now.
i'm so sorry you're going thru all this.
i've had oral thrush before and i know how awful it is. the swishes will ease it very much.

what was all the wt gain from? i can't remember what surgery you had.
did you have steroids? sorry for my brain fart.

the only other thing i can think of for the N/V is a med. a rectal suppository. they work great. please don't let yourself run out of pain meds. it's harder to catch up to pain than stay on top of it. i'm sure your dr should understand.
you might try just a bit of honey in some hot tea.

i sure hope you feel better.

OK!

I made it all day so far without barfing. I had a lovely shower, stood there until the water started getting cold, washed everything three times and gently washed the incision to get all the goo around it off. I feel revived just having had a shower for the first time since Feb. 19th!!

I lost 7 more lbs of fluid!

Two more flagyl pills to go and I am done. My next question is about the swish stuff. Do I swish and spit or do I swish and swallow? No one told me that part!

Judy, thanks! It was surgery for ruptured appendix. I guess it had ruptured sometime within the previous 48 hours but I just didn't FEEL anything mortal.

Dejibo, the yogurt is Stonyfield. I have some Danactive drinks too and I am eating and drinking both of them.

Just having a shower made me feel almost normal again!!!

It's amazing how wonderful a shower can feel when you've not been able to take one. So glad your'e stomach has settled down, RW; your leetle TH friend has been very concerned about you. What a nightmare this has all been for you. I can't believe you had that much fluid; is that normal? Wait a minute!!!! Your'e NOT normal!!!

*shaking HAID* What was I thinking?? Have a good evening my dear tall friend.

TY my leetle TH friend! I might even eat some NORMAL food tonight!

The big man has been taking care of me very well. I don't know what I would have done without him. I swear he'd carry me around if he could! I didn't realize how scared he was until today. I guess the doc told him I was touch and go when this all started!! The poor thing thought I was gonna croak! I told him nopie, I have to stay and make him wait on me hand and foot until the doc says I can do it all by myself again!

(not easy when yer as independent as some tall women think they are, yanno?)

If you're talking about the liquid treatment for oral thrush, then you swish and swallow.

That's why I'm short and dependent, RW. Being tall just has too many expectations for me.

Glad the Big Guy is doing his duty and nursing you back to health.

Now, take it easy and do what the ole boy says, so you continue to heal.

GASP!!! I think you skeered all of us, too!!!!
