Let's see... It took 2 neuros to dx me. I've seen the specialist for a consult. I've had to see a gastro and bladder dude since DX. So I guess that makes 5 for me thus far - not including the PCP and GYN since I saw them anyways prior.

OK, let me count. Started with PCP (1), sent to asthma specialist (2) who said sx are neuro, 1st neuro (3) who sent me to MS Specialist #1 (4) and ENT (5), MS Specialist #1 sent me to MS Specialists #2 & 3 (7), I stayed with MS Specialist #2 who has since sent me to vestibular neuro(8), neuro-opthalmologist (9), neuro-psych (10). I also saw my regular opth about the nystagmus (11). Unless I've forgotten someone, I am at 11 docs since this mess started.

I have seen 3 neuros, 1 pcp and 1 urologist... supposed to be going to a gastrointernologist to but haven't done it yet....

I thought I had a lot of diff docs, but you guys take the cake! lol

I loved my 2nd neuro but my insurance changed and he didn't take my new insurance... my 3rd one is good so far... hopefully I will find some way to get to go back without having insurance anymore.... :( seems like everytime I start to try to help myself I end up losing my insurance!!

In the last ten years, I've seen:

6 PCPs (Last year I FINALLY found a REAL doctor--what a relief!!)

3 neurologists (very nice people very skilled at confusing the heck out of me)

2 ophthalmologists (nice reassuring types)

1 rheumatologist (uninterested, unhelpful, unbelievable, and snarky too)

1 regular ENT (did all the right things when I lost my hearing, good guy)

1 neuro-otologist (ENT inner-ear specialist), but actually four if you count three more that I saw not for diagnosis but on the tortuous path to get a special kind of hearing aid. Very nice people, but only really interested in surgery.

1 spine specialist/orthopedist (checked more reflexes than all the previous docs put together!)

And the diagnostic result of all those doctors and dollars: a big fat ZERO!

(At least it was mostly the insurance companies' dollars; not that I'm happy about that.)

I did get some good results, though--an excellent pill for the brain fog, an excellent hearing aid (Baha system), and an excellent pair of "ghostbusting" reading glasses.

3 pcp's
4 neuro's
1 neuro surgeon
4 pain docs
1 pt

Not going to count the psychologists, lol.

Prior, I had one pcp in my adult life, one ob/gyn and a urologist.

Now I need to look for yet another doc. It gets tough to know how many times to keep looking, when to give up. Just when you think you have someone who's going to help, they leave on ya.

My original GP moved away about 15 yrs ago, so I've got a new one since then.

My original neuro retired (she was 105 when she saw me in 1991). Since then I got a MS Specialist, but he was too far away. I now have another MS Specialist who is closer . . . so that's three.

I have been to see all those neuro's a total of eight times since 1991.

HI my dear brain~! I was wondering about YOU!!

So sorry you do not have your pain doc..what happened that you had to switch? And why dont you like the new one? Ask the "spirit" or Holy spirit to guide you to a great MD ok?

I have just been to my 5th neurologist..3 Rheumies..and now have a new PCP (4th in last few years)..who knows cuz time sure flies!!

MS has been ruled out.. I accept it..but then meet the new PCP and she says.."Are they sure you dont have MS?? Are they sure you dont have seizures??"

I like one lady on another forum.. she GAVE UP DOCTORS FOR LENT!! hahahaaaa

I do have a NEW DX Autonomic dysfunction.. and still going to be tested for Narcolepsy with cataplexy.. its looking like I have some version of that.

GOOD to "see" you !!

Warmly, Jan
