Default Holy Cow! One ml is a lot of fluid!!

Had a great meeting with my neuro guy, taking OH with me this time. He's a miserable bu^^er at the best of times. That's neuro guy, not OH, but today was good.

I got my script, I got my follow up appointment, I got my questions answered.

So off we tootle to the pharmacy, and for a wonderful $30, I got my months supply of Beta juice. The girl gave me a fab box of goodies that made me think I had just bought a rabbit (which gave me a fit of giggles).
Home with my white cardboard bunny box.

OH went to bed since he's on nights and I did the deed...
One whole ml of Beta into my leg. That's my first self inflicted injection... and all I can say is That's a hell of a lot of fluid !!!!

So here I sit, waiting with my stock of chocolate mud cake, hoping that I'll skip the side effects. Ha! I'll should be so lucky eh?

Off I must go now to feed the horses before I get the 'flu stuff. Wish me well....

Good for you!!!

Have you given IM injections before? You sound like it was a walk in the park and I am thinking you are very brave!

I did the SC injection with Copaxone. I do IM injections for a family member and that needle still scares me!

Here's hoping for NO side effects and flu-ey stuff for you!

Let us know how it goes!!

Beta is SubQ. Avonex is the only IM injectable.

Good deal and congratulations! I hope the side effects aren't too bad. The doc didn't have you titrate up slowly? I remember when I first started that I started on 1/4 dose for a while then 1/2 dose then full dose. Made the side effects a little easier.

It's early here! I haven't had my coffee yet! (and I only did the Copaxone, never had any of the interferons! I forgot!)

Default Phew- out the other side

Well that wasn't so bad...

I was told I could titrate if I wanted; no hard and fast rules. But the way I saw it, if I did the whole thing first off, then at least I'd know how bad it could get! and I don't have half a disease.. I have the whole caboodle. So why not try the whole vial.

I'm an RN so I've given thousands of jabs. Giving myself one was a new thing!!! Going in wasn't so bad but the liquid bit was awful. Took me ages. There's NO chance of me using the autoinflictor!!

I took it at 3pm. By 5 I had the 'flu stuff; it hit me like a speeding train. Took some paracetomol and some brufen. By 8pm, I feel like I'm coming out the other side. Pretty good! Hope it's always like this!

Thanks for listening. OH has gone to work so I've nobody to prattle on to...

When I switched from rebif to copaxone I had read 20mcg for the cop. I was kinda excited about going from 44mcg to 20mcg and figured, ah it's everyday but it's so much less. I was really bummed when the cop came and it was 20mcg of med mixed with 80mcg of manitol. IT WAS HUGE! I almost glad it didn't work for me because those huge shots everyday on my skinny butt were not fun. Now on 22mcg bif again and they're very small and easy to take. Damn depression though. ughhh.

Since mcg is weight and ml is volume I don't really know how they compare but I can't imagine injecting more liquid than a copaxone shot.

I did beta for a while, and was lucky to escape most of those bad side effects. The thing was that my liver wasnt happy. So, yes, there is hope to have a side effect free run with beta.

it does seem like it take forever when you inject manually. its always best to do a slow push, and that way its less traumatic to the underlying tissues.

Congrats on picking a med, and 'sticking' to it.

Insomnia and I knew I could pick on you!

That autoinflictor is just that...it earned its name!
