Hey Kitty. Jim has this happen from time and he went to see an ocupational therapist for it. He gave Jim a hand exercisor and playdoh type stuff. The playdoh he rolls and pulls apart to keep the muscles loose and the fingers from curling. Hope you get relief soon!

But is it wise to take the Benadryl on top of the Zyrtec? Just sayin', cuz I don't want you to get hurt.

Speaking of numb...

My front teeth and lips have been getting gradually numb-er for quite some time. Its okay, though, cuz that way I don't need to use Sensodyne toothpaste for my sensitive teeth (so expensive!)

But now I've got to remember to check after I eat to see if there are crumbs hanging around, cuz I can't feel them. My SIL and DH pointed some out last week.

(((Kelly))) I am so sorry you are having trouble with all of this. I only have trouble with my left arm. It varies but the spasms in the upper arm are not painful, just irritating as you not only can I feel it I can see it. Additionally, I have sensory issues with my arm. I cannot feel when I burn myself and it takes about an hour for the message to get to my brain that I burnt it, if it makes it there at all. But I can feel a pinprick. I talked to the neuro about this right after Thanksgiving as I burnt myself and we discussed the different pain receptors.

Additionally, as mentioned, I quite often get the sensation that I don't even have an arm yet when I look at it, it is there and functioning just fine. Weird and as Cherie did say, kind of like an amputee that feels things in a limb that is not there.

Also, when I was 1st diagnosed I talked with my brother as it never made sense to me that my leg was numb but I could feel things. He explained that the feeling of being numb but not really being numb was an issue with the brain and a message got mixed up/lost a connection. It was not that I was truly numb. These are sensory perceptions gone haywire. I don't know if I just explained that well but hey, this MS. LOL

Hangin' in there. I look like a drug addict....my left arm from my elbow to my wrist has little red marks on it from scratching it so much!

I try and exercise my hand as much as I can. Sometimes it feels like it's so swollen that I can't bend my fingers....but I can. I'll spread my fingers as far apart as I can and then flex then back and forth - sort of like using a hand exercise ball without there being a ball there! Towards the end of the day, though, it's painful as I've used it all day.

I didn't take the Zyrtec last night....just the Benedryl. I still itched, though! But I did sleep more than I usually do. Hey, maybe if I take them both I'll actually sleep through the night! JK....I'd never do that.

It's such a strange sensation. I can feel pain....like if I pricked my finger with a needle I could sure feel it. But if the Neuro does that test where I close my eyes and he moves my finger up or down and I'm supposed to tell him which way he's moving it....I fail that test every time.

My brain has definitely got it's wires crossed somewhere! Now, if it could just tell my stomach that I'm not hungry things would be great.

Mine does that! The messages from my stomach to my brain and vice versa are so mixed up. With as little as I eat you would think I would be as thin as a rail but I'm not. I truly have to force myself to eat and am on what I call a one bite diet. One bit and I'm full.

I actually drink a lot of smoothies and blended fruit/veggie drinks as I don't get that full feeling right away and I can digest it better. Plus, it is a great way to ensure I am getting all my vitamins and nutrients that I need.
