But... for the rest of the world... a little bit of highlighted news can be of help.

One of these days ... a *cause* of this disease will be found ...

identify the cause and treatment of the symptoms could vastly improve.

Only problem with having an MS day, is that people wont pay attention to it, and will assume it's the "Jerry's Kids" thing. Because most people dont read or pay attention unless is directly affects them.

Hence the need for as much public attention as we can give it.

This year, for the first time, more than 100 MS organizations around the globe are taking part in World MS Day. The MS Society is asking all supporters of the MS movement to contact their federal legislators on World MS Day and voice their support for comprehensive and accessible health care coverage.

Any noise we can make will help.

I had an email this morning from the Society, with a pre-written letter to send to my congresspeople about healthcare. I added my own two cents and sent it off. I hope they can do something about healthcare, and I hope that somebody will pay attention, or learn that this isn't Jerry's Kid's disease tomorrow. It seems that MS awareness is practically non-existent.

I did the same. When I mention (very rarely!!) that I have MS ... the person/people are stunned into silence and confusion ... typical reaction as I'm not in a wheelchair.

I was a little disappointed, but not shocked, that I didn't see MS mentioned at all on the news today or in the newspaper. It seems that the only people who know are those of us with MS! Has anyone else heard about MS Day in the media at all?

I was disapointed too that it wasn't even a 30 second blurb on the local news( national news would have been better!). I even had an appt. with my MS Specialist yesterday and there was no mention of it, no poster, nothing at all. I thought they would at least be aware of it there. ( I could have asked my neuro or even his nurse if they knew of it, but I didn't want to waste my precious 20 minutes or so that I haven't had in 7 and 1/2 months on anything other than my own personal issues)

I hope they do make this an annual day.

I feel kind of let down when people don't know what it is, but I guess that's human nature if it doesn't effect you personally or a close family member.
