Default Steroid Rant

YUCK! Last night I felt my body starting to blot.... woke up this morning with heartburn and can't find any Tums or Rolaids in the place! Feel like I have gained 100 pounds in one night - I guess I could blame some of it on the heat (90 degrees yesterday) but I am thinking more Roids instead!

I have never had this trouble with them before - just feel yucky!

Can you stomach some hot tea with milk and too much honey?

Hang in there, Char, the liquid will leave and the bloating will subside. Your orders to rest are still in place and they don't yield to our desires to do other stuff, even on holiday weekends! Remember, we talked about the false sense of energy and the inevitable crash and burn??????

The roids will take another week or so to do their thing and I strongly urge you to put anything and everything you possibly can on hold for now.

It sucks, I know, but please believe me when I tell you that months and months of it feels a lot worse!

I will try the tea and honey and milk - coffee was not the taste I wanted this morning - as you know AMN to much going on and I don't need this added crap right now - but I will be ok. Heading out to a job interview - wish me luck - luck to keep a smile on my face and answer the questions correctly!

I hope today is better little lambchop. The steroids aren't fun for me either and I was like a revved up engine when on them. Poor DH was in misery, lol. (Picture a raging Wiz going 100 mph... )

I agree with AMN, you should rest until you feel better. I'm sorry about the tummy problems. Can you get some Pepcid AC generic? That worked well for me when I was taking them.

I cannot believe that your doc didn't tell you to get something (tagamet, pepcid, zantac) before you started the orals!

My doc said ANY time you do orals you should also do ranitidine for your stomach. He had me on 75 mg. 3xday when I did my last course in 2007 and I had to continue the 75 mg TID for a week after I was done with the orals. He cautioned against acidic foods and alcoholic drinks while on them too. Of course I didn't listen about the food and alcohol, but I did take the zantac without fail and I didn't have any problems.

Get something for your stomach!

Good Luck with the interview!

Char, I hope you get the job you are applying for. Good luck!

Steroids always made me feel euphoric. They did bother my tummy so I wrapped each tablet in American cheese and made a ball out of each one. Like you can do to give doggies their pills.

It helped with the acid problem because the steroids seemed to melt in your mouth too fast and taste terrible. They hurt all the way going down. I took 10 tablets a day, now I do IVSM when needed.
