The definition of Irony with this wonderful disease is that one symptom will improve while another takes its place for awhile.
![]() For those that know, one of my biggest symptoms is numbness - the loss of sensation on my right side and in my feet. Well today, I was a little giddy since I could feel the floor. Defintely the little things that make a difference, like feeling the carpet, the ridges in our tile, etc. Hubby thought I was a little nuts, lol ![]() Now for the ironic part...the price is the constant burning feeling. Feels like a match or a lighter on my feet. So bittersweet, but enjoying the timeout of numbness despite the pain. Get this every once in awhile, so not really new. But wanted to share in case anyone else goes through switching symptoms.

My thumb is usually numb. Then on bonus days, I get the feeling back but with the downer that it feels like it's been hit with a hammer and that everything I touch feels like it has bobbles on.

When I switch from numb to burning, it means those nerves are waking up, and rejoining the race. I usually enjoy a period after that of full sensation. it can take two weeks to two months for it to come, and it may only last two months, but that is my pattern.
I hope you get full sensation back.

I hear you loud and clear on that one, Fin! A couple years ago, I got weepy when I burned my hand pulling baked potatoes out of the oven. My dad could not figure me out, so I told him that I was thrilled because I felt the heat for the first time in years. He made some stink about using oven mitts.

I find it ironic I used to teach neurologically impaired kids whose Emotional Disturbance became their Primary label, and now I'm neurologically impaired. I really get it now and would be a better teacher.

I have *not feeling heat* issues too. I totally get you. I said thanks to a waiter for telling me a plate was hot. And he thought I was joking, looked at me funny. Seriously, I can't tell, I said. It was a first for him. I have learned to focus on if the food smells hot.

i have to be careful with my feet, especially when doing my nails.
the feeling is so decreased that if i cut myself i don't feel it. on the other hand i also have pain in my feet. go figure. i don't know how it can be both at once.
