Thanks so much for the update! I'm glad you went to get checked out!
Let us know how things are going when you come out of the haze!

(BTW- how nice that patients have internet access at SOME hospitals! It's my next crusade with the med center that I use!)

The two questions on my list that I've collected from the forum so far are this and also the other one concerning any value of doing steroids for ON other than to hasten recovery.

Okay, back to Joelle.
My ophthalmologist told me that sometimes you can have a really serious and obvious case of optic neuritis that might not show up on an MRI. He told me that it was obvious at the time that I had ON because of all the symptoms (pain in the eye when moving the eye, color blindness, ginormous blind spot in the eye that they mapped out with the blinky light "game".)

Awwww, Joellelee, I'm so sorry you're at the hospital. I hope you feel better and get to return home very soon.

joelle, I hope you feel better soon. It is good that you went to the hospital. I hope they can stop the pain.

I had O.N. three times and it still doesn't show a lesion in that area. I get the ice pick stab in the eye when I moved it left or right. Also, I had my central vision go blurry, and another time I saw a huge yellow spot in my central vision. Everything in the spot was slightly blurry.

That one lasted 10 days, seemrf to get better and came back two days later and stayed for another week. The Neuro-Op did not give me anything, nor did my MS doctor. They said to wait it out and see if it clears up. Not a bad attack each time. I was not in relapse, just the eye.

My Optic nerve was only slightly pale when viewed by the eye doctor. He said maybe on the other side of the nerve, that he could not see, would show up on an MRI. It did not.

I did not have intense pain or headache like you have joelle. We all are different and our symptoms vary. I hope you are not having a relapse.
Take care and rest.

Okay, we're up to 3. I swear I will ask tomorrow! I'm really hoping that I misunderstood her because this is the one doctor I have in my MS world who I trust implicitly!

You may not remember the hugs I'm giving you because of your dilaudid haze, but please feel better. I'm glad you went to the ER, and I'm so glad DH is there to help.

Joelle

I just realized that you have a computer in your hospital room. How cool is that??!!

Hope you are doing better today! I just had a thought that the LDN may be reducing the impact of the pain medications.
