Cherie, I refused to fit nicely into the "Old" slot, at 50...no way!!! I didn't consider myself in that slot, until I turned 60 and even then I went kicking and screaming..

Actually, just in the last couple yrs, have I started to realize that, I'm an old person.

mmm, I remember turning 50...

DH went out in the early morning to play tennis before work. But he really did not go play tennis, he had arranged to rent a BMW Z4. A very sexy convertible stick-shift red sports car.

It was sitting in the garage for a surprise when I went out to go to work.

We could not buy it but I had it as a rental for the weekend. A perfect Spring weekend with temperatures in the high 70's and seat warmers.

That was just before the slide.

mmm, I remember turning 50.

Sally, Thank you. I do not consider 50 "old". It's just different. As a good friend said when I told him I had MS. "You're still you, aren't you?" It may be time to retire some bikinis and clothes, but hey there's other great stuff waiting. Well, yeah.

I have a tankini, I love it. It covers everything.

Weather cooled off for the week and the pool temperature went back down below 80 degrees. I need it that warm to get in.

I should go out and see what the temperature is this afternoon. Kicker, you talking about bathing suits and your muscles got me in the mood.

Today would be my dad's 72nd birthday, but he died in an accident 38 yrs ago, just before his 34th birthday.

My sisters and I were talking about age (during my 50th b'day dinner the other night ) and we laughed (and agreed) when my eldest sister brought up that she had thought "at least he lived a good LONG life when he died". That was our impression at 14, 11 and 7 yrs old.

Up until the last few centuries, people only lived till their late 30's, on average. Our expectations, and the definition of "old" has changed significantly since then, obviously.

I still say 50+ transitions us to the "older" group. I enjoyed my 40's more than any other decade though, so hopefully the 50's will be good to me too.

Cherie

I looked and felt much better in my fifties than I do now at sixty.

You know what....when I am in my hundreds I'll tell you I looked and felt much better in my nineties!!
