Default I just made a deal

I went to my regular doctor because I havent been feeling all that great the past few weeks.

While I was talking to him (and this is the nice doctor who understands MS more than others, his dad has it) I mentioned that I still wanted to try LDN. He said he'd talk to my neuro about it.

A little bit later, he was telling me that I should be doing some exercising. Told me about how his dad weighs about 300 pounds, and that his dad wished that he'd kept that weight off since he's now using a chair.

So, my regular doctor just made a deal with me. He said that if I start exercising a few days a week, and I come back to see him later this month or beginning of next month, that he would consider prescribing me LDN. (he wants to talk to my neuro about it first)

Hopefully the neuro will remember that he said he wouldnt mind if I got another doctor to Rx LDN to me. (neuro doesnt think it works, but he also doesnt think the injectibles he Rx-ed to me work either)

At least the regular doctor is more understanding than a lot of other doctors. His dad having MS, and his grandmother had it too, he seems to at least be more sympathetic towards the crap that we go thru.

I hear you about the lack of exercise and sitting on one's butt, leading to middle body spread.. I was real smart and lost a bunch of weight before I had to use my scooter everyday.....buttttttttt, using a scooter all the time has it's own rewards and some grew back..

I hope you get the LDN, Erin..

I hope I get the LDN too. It might work for me, it might not, but I'll never know unless they let me try it.

I'm going to go look for a pair of shorts that I wont mind exercising in. I think I'll go ride the recumbent bike at the place my dad exercises at when he goes tonight.

Erin exercise is always good advice. I know people in w/c's that do w/c Yoga or strength training in chairs. Never too late, or too early, to start exercising when you have a disease/disorder or any kind.

I do stretching and then balance exercises. I have a Wobble Board. Two different ones in fact. It has helped my gait imbalance and walk. I use a stationary bike too. I couldn't use these tools until I took the LDN. I think the extra energy it gave me, has helped me in more than one area of my life. It's the truth.

I did go to exercise today with my dad, got in on his exercise membership. It wasnt too bad until later.

I had some really bad vertigo a little earlier tonight. I called one the neuro's at my neuro's office about it (regular neuro was off today), and told him my regular doctor told me to go exercise, which I did a little of today (25mins on a treadmill walking verrrrry slooowly, and 20 mins on a recumbent bike (not all of the 20mins was taken up with pedaling, it was more like pedal 5mins, rest 5 mins, pedal 5 mins, rest 5 mins, start pedaling again and saying "screw it. I'm tired")

The neuro told me that he thought I might have done too much exercising. He told me to leave the bike alone, and just do the treadmill for 10 or 15 mins a day for a week or two and then slowly build up. He asked how long I'd been sedentary (I think he was implying "lazy" ) and I told him I was diagnosed with MS at the beginning of 2007, but that I'd been "lazy" pretty much since the end of high school. (20yrs ago)

I walk a lot, dont mind walking, it's just that I dont walk for exercise...25 mins of steady walking really was a LOT for me. It felt really good for some reason tho. I felt really good after I got home and took a shower. Even now, I feel good....except for the vertigo, and the weird proprioceptive sensations in my feet.

I think I need to get my neuro and regular doctor together on this exercise stuff...and figure out an exercise that might help the vertigo not be so horrible when I do get it. (I read there are exercises that help with balance, I just dont know what they are)

I did enjoy the treadmill today, except for the lady who kept acting as if I was hogging the machine because I wasnt jogging full tilt, as if my walking really really slowly wasnt a good enough excuse for me to be using the treadmill. Oh well...she looked like her steroids were about to make her start raging.

What's really weird, when I started getting that vertigo tonight, and the weird proprioceptive sensations started in, my feet were feeling like they were waking up from being slightly numb...and they still kind of feel that way...they still feel like they're not quite sure of where they're at tho.

I'm calling the doctor who told me to exercise tomorrow morning, and tell him what happened tonight, and ask him if there's an exercise plan that he can suggest that I build up to.

My boyfriend was all excited that I'm starting to exercise. He needs to exercise too, and he was thrilled that I was trying it out. He's constantly telling me that I need to work out because everytime I've fallen down, I've injured something like a knee or my hands or something. He thinks that I need to build up some muscle so that I wont be breaking or tearing anything if I fall down again.

How is the Vertigo? Are you feeling better?

Some Vertigo is non-MS and can be treated.

Explains how the dehydration, or Benign positional vertigo is due to a disturbance within the inner ear. The inner ear has fluid-filled tubes called semicircular ... s position and maintain your balance. Benign positional vertigo develops when a small piece of bone-like ...

Sounds like a good deal to me, Erin.

Once you get on LDN, and if it works for you, you'll probably find it easier to do more exercising anyway.

Hi Erin,

I hope you get the LDN and that it helps you and eases your symptoms!

I agree with what the others have said about exericising being helpful. I can't exercise hardly now and have gained about 35lbs in weight since I have been ill which is really depressing. I've tried to lose it through diets and they helped a little but some of it just doesn't want to go!

I'm skipping the exercise today and maybe tomorrow because I've got some sort of weird friction burn from my undergarments rubbing my skin in a weird spot. Either that, or it's a friction burn from skin that's not really supposed to meet up, but when you're chunky, it meets up anyways. (did any of that make any sense?)

I do like the exercise. All I'm doing right now is walking on a treadmill, mostly because of my right knee being all fubar right now. I'm using the walking to help strengthen my knee. Hopefully I'll notice something within the next few weeks in that knee.
