Another good thing to try is a "cuddle ewe". They are a very good sleeping top to go on top your mattress if you are not ready to change your mattress. I have been using one for about 5 years. They are not inexpensive. I think mine cost about $300.00. I got it over the internet at www.cuddleewe.com. I would not want to be without one.

Hello Virginia,
Thank you for that link. I just ordered one for our old bed which is now the guest bed because it is so hard. I imagine that our houseguests would have been quite uncomfortable on it and the cuddleewe seems like it will solve that problem. It's on sale right now if anyone else is interested. I do have a question about it. How do you care for it? Do you put yours in the washer and dryer as one would a mattress cover? It appears as if you would be able to, but I guess I'll find out when it comes. I was wondering how you cared for yours. Thank you for sharing. I think our houseguests will be ever so grateful, and I may just put up a sign that says; "Thank Virginia for a wonderful Night's Sleep".:)

All the best,
Chris

Adjustable bed?

My DH & I are in the search for a new
mattress (again!) for the new yr 07.

We're highly considering an adjustable mattress
(i think it's actually the foundation).
I have difficulty pulling myself upward & out off
the mattress. (i've had MS for 24 yrs)

I've looked at Simmons Beautyrest adjustable
online & the cost is around $3500  for the Queen size.

I'm really nervous & apprehensive about going into
a bedding store & trying one out! :Sigh:

Anyone have any experience with adjustables?

Thnx.

Chris, I have just used a cover over mine. Mine is quite thick and would not fit in a washer or dryer. However, I have thought that if I do not soon get a new mattress that I might order a new one. I do not know how long they are supposed to last and mine still does quite well. However, since I do want a new mattress I would like to try that alone first so I will be able to tell how it sleeps.

Hope you (or your guest) like the cuddleewe as much as I have. Let me know when you get it. When I got mine someone told me they heard a Doctor on a radio talk show talking about them, so I did not personally know anyone with one and would like to hear what someone else thinks.

By the way, I did also order the cover for it from them, and I do wash and dry it.

I just ordered some new Down filled Pillows. I love them. I really hate the polyfilled, foams. I like to hug and scrunch my pillows. Those bounce back pillows hurt my head.

I may get a down mattress pad or one of those thingings, Chris and Virginia are talking about. Yes please let me know how you like them.

Hugs,

Oddly enough, I wish I slept on the mattresses at the hotel in the Turning Stone Casino in NYS. They won't tell who makes them or where they purchase them from, and my husband and I know others who also love their mattresses -- a trade secret that works. If not for those mattresses, which I stay on practically the entire time (don't bet, can't walk much), I wouldn't accompany him nor let him go without me :icon_wink:

Hello Virginia,
We still haven't received our cuddleewe yet. I believe they said it would take 10 days to two weeks for delivery. We'll be using ours on our guest bed, but we may have to try it out to see how comfortable it is once it arrives. Thank you for the cleaning tip. I did order the cover from them as well. Thank you again for the recommendation. I shall let you know as soon as it arrives.

All the best,
Chris

Do you know if this type of mattress quilt retains
body heat from the wool it's made from?

I have a visco memory foam (similar to Tempurpedic) mattress which
I hate coz it's HOT & I have a difficult time w/rolling side
to side.

Thnx.

YOu might check your local Rent-a-Center and see if you can try before you buy.

VLYS, Mine has not made any difference in the temperature that I can tell. I bought their cover for it and I do use high count sheets. The cuddleewe really does sleep well I think.
