Default IPIR -- For Coaxpone users

A friend of mine just posted on another MS board that she had her first IPIR. It occurred after she'd been using Copaxone for about 19 months.

Wondering how many of you have had one, and how long you were on Copaxone before one occurred.

I have never had an IPIR. (If you choose this option, please also post how long you've been on Copaxone.) I've been using Copaxone for about 9 months.

I don't take Copaxone anymore, but I commented anyway because my drug reaction was great enough to cause me to discontinue injecting.

I started having reactions at the beginning of the third week after commencement, and ended up in hospital with seizures (my first ever). I also came up in huge blisters (much bigger than golf balls) everywhere I had injected. My skin was bright red and hot to touch, and I was just covered in great big bags of fluid. I was not well!

It was decided I was allergic, but there was no way I was taking any more anyway. I'm also allergic to the Interferons as well as a few other medications, so I guess I'm just a sensitive individual.

Three years on Copaxone, no IPIR (so far). I think about it every time I inject though...."is this the one?"

Hmmm. I had tried to post a poll. Usually, I don't have problems, but, this time it didn't go through. Musta clicked the wrong thing.

Thanks for your responses.

Your poll is visible to me! It's at the top of the page. Have you voted in it yet? You might have to vote in order for it to show up.

I had one about a year or so after starting. I pulled back the needle, and blood ran down my leg, and before I could get the needle put down on the table, to clean up the mess, I was saying WTF! it lasted about 7 minutes, and wasnt as horrible as I thought it would be. I chalked that up to having so many that had walked that road before me explaining it, and I was prepared. I looked at the clock to mark the time. I kept a cool head, and tried to distract myself. it was hard to catch my breath, and I felt like a sumo wrestler was on my chest. I felt like my sterum hurt all the way through to my backbone. As 5 minutes came, I was already feeling much relief. at 7 mins I was able to get up, and move on. At 10 mins it was over. I called the MD office, and they gave me a day off, and then right back at it.

I am told that i must have smacked into a vein, because it was so bloody. That my sx were very typical. I went on to shoot again, and havent had one since.

The increase in the frequency of the IPIR was what caused me to go off copax.

My first one was three months in, and then it was every few months after. Almost made it to the two year mark when it first increased to every other week, then every other day.

I think I've had about 9 in total.

Yeah; I had already voted. Visible to me now, too. Maybe I just wasn't scrolled up, before, or something. Thanks.
