Last week I had an MRI of my kidneys to be sure that my incontinence problem wasn’t caused by something wrong with my kidneys. As we suspected, the kidneys are OK, so the culprit is probably MS.
Anywayz, when I was in the tube for the MRI, my arms were up over my head. The test seemed to take forever, and my right arm started to freak out. I thought my arm was going to fall off at the shoulder. It was very painful, and I was really glad when the test was over. The next morning I woke up with one of my most frequent kind of neural flare up. The worst of the pain was between my neck and right shoulder. I felt as if I had broken my collarbone. There was also a splitting headache on my right side as well as loads of pain going down my right arm. If I sit up for very long, my whole back starts to cramp up. It has been five days now and the pain is starting to ease off. I still can’t sit up for very long, though, because it feels like my head is waaaay to heavy for my neck to support it. Has anybody else had a flare up because of stressing a part of the body? |

I've had psuedo-flares from stressing a muscle too much. Part of the MS grab bag of symptoms.
![]() Sorry to hear it was so long and painful. ![]() ![]()

It sounds like a series of spasms from holding your arm in that position. It could have irritated a nerve. I have had that happen to me and it is not comfortable at all. I had to use lots of heat, then massage from DBF or DDs, and then ice to get any minor relief. I finally got desperate and decided to try the Salonpas that MrsD mentioned. I did the heat, massage, ice routine and waited about 20 minutes and put the Salonpas on the area, took 2 Advils, and then went to bed. By the morning time the spasm finally released some and I was able to move my arm and head more.
Hope you are feeling better. ![]() |
