I never get a regular flu shot, and since the old vaccines of 1976 were such a disastour, I will refuse the H1N1 flu shot as well. If I worked in a school or hospital or were still a medic, I mayhave considered it, but since I am home, and can go to bed anytime I want, ...nope, dont think so.

The DH says he will get both, but I am trying to talk him out of the H1N1. I want to see what happens to those that do take it first. He is my soul support, and I rely on him too much to risk GB or other crap. One of being sick at a time is more than enough.

I haven't made any decisions but am leaning toward no flu shot and no H1N1 shot for myself or my DD. Right now my gut is saying no.

I already received a letter from DD's school letting us know that we will receive the permission slip from school to allow them to vacinate DD! She can't be vacinated at school unless we clear it with her allergist (she is allergic to eggs and not sure if this vaccine has eggs or not).

Probably will get flu shot but not other. I was on rebif about 2 years ago(now on copaxone) and I got the flu shot but wasn't aware of pnemonia shot. Ending up getting pnemonia and it was horrible I kid you not I thought I was going to die but after a few days in the hospital and about two months recovery I slowly got over it. I wouldn't do this new shot unless it was highly recommended by my doctor.

i always get the flu shot. i've had the flu before and the misery is awful.
and the muscle pain...knock on wood i haven't been sick in a long time.

the H1N1? i'm not sure. have to talk to my drs and decide for myself.

I get a flu shot every year. But, then again, I have asthma and lesions on the heart and lungs.

I will get the swine flu shot unless my doc tells me not to get it. It won't take much for H1N1 to mutate and become a deadly flu.

Swine shot

Never had a flu shot and have never had the flu. Isn't it strange how many of us can say that?
From what I understand the swine flu is especially nasty to little children. Others seem to recover okay.
However; I will be boarding a plane for the Bahamas in November. Planes and airports expose you to EVERYTHING.....so I will check with my doc before I make a decision.
Heck..who knows....there may not be enough vaccine anyway?!

My PCP said there will be a swine flu shot and then a booster swine flu shot as well. He said to definitely get it.

He is seeing about two cases per week of swine flu here in Florida, and he said that in Florida, one never sees flu in the summer because of the heat. His colleagues are worried that this means we will be inundated by flu this Fall. School started last week-- that will increase the epidemic.

I'm not sure yet...I have never gotten a flu shot. The swine flu usually hits younger people hard, and I'm middle-aged. But I drive the inlaws around, and I don't want to get them sick if I'm a carrier.
My mom's dad died in 1918 from swine flu. It was weak in the spring, just like this one, and came back much stronger in the fall. That's what's expected this time around.
I just heard yesterday that humans have passed the virus on to turkeys in another country...it's not very common for us to pass viruses onto animals.
I have a feeling that this fall is going to be interesting where this is concerned...guess we should all be aware and listen to our docs.

I get the flu shot each year and it is my understanding that the hospital where I work will be pushing this one pretty heavily so unless something comes to light I'll get that one also. Imo the chances of vaccine related reactions are light compared to the damage of getting over a major illness, missing time at work and possibly instigating MS symptoms.

I wish they'd come up with a new way to make vaccine without using eggs. I'm allergic & have never had a flu shot, won't be able to get the H1N1 either..Had the flu last year but caught it in time for the Tamiflu to knock it out. No fun. On the bright side, I'm not working anymore so not exposed to as much gunk as usual. Just need to avoid those germ infested clinics ..
