I have had MG for 10 years or more and had a thymectomy about 8 years ago. All my symptoms nearly dissappeared about 5 years ago and I haven't taken Mestinon since the thymectomy. About 6 months ago I decided it was time to get back in shape and started excercising and lifting weights. After losing about 30 pounds I noticed my vision started blurring. After a while I started getting double vision and today my eyelids can barely stay open and I have terrible double vision. I tried taking Mestinon but it didn't help the double vision or eyelids drooping. Is there any medication I can take that will help with double vision/drooping eyelids?

I agree with Mary! Mestinon did not help @ all with the DV or droopy eye thing, but Prednisone certainly did!
Hope you are doing well! Take care! ERin Hermes

Dumb question from me.. how old is that mestinon? if it is old, then it won't work. I have had MG for over 18 years and I hate to admit that my double vision never went away. I was in remission for 17 years but still had the double vision. I know many will say then you weren't in remission but according to my Dr I was and I had no weakness anywhere else {until this past Nov when MG reared it's ugly head again} Talk to your Dr and see what he/she says, they have come a long way with meds and MG.

Hey TX,
Welcome to the group! I only take mestinon and it usually helps with my double vision a droopy eye lids. Call your neuro and see if he'll put you on one of the drugs many here take that helps with that problem. Good luck and hope to hear from you again. Hugs, Pat |

Ive done mestinon and Prednisolone.
Mestinon works on get those droopy eyes and eyebrows up, depending on how bad I am. Today I have been battling bilateral ptosis and when my left eye did open the eyeball decided to roll to the back of my head. Ive taken 2 mestinon and have finally been able to see clearly for the first time today. I have been trying to stay away from taking 120mg of mestinon but I was desperate today. When I have double vision mestinon doesn't work. It was only when I came off prednisolone that I discovered I had double vision and problems tracking things with my eyes. Love Rach |
