Default Does Anyone Else Experience This?

Hi All,
I have been doing fairly well with all my symptoms as of late. I have one thing that really bothers me and I'm not exactly sure what it is.

When I sneeze, cough or laugh too hard my stomach goes into spasms or cramps. It lasts a short time but is painful. Does anyone else get these?

I have had a few times where these "cramps" have lasted all day and are so painful that I just curl up.

Is this just something else that goes along with MG?

Thanks ~ Melanie

Hi Melanie, sorry you're experiencing such painful cramps. HAve the doctor given you anything for it? Perhaps you can check with them. I used to have painful cramps, but mine's not diagosed as MG so I'm not quite sure if it happens to people with MG. I'm currently taking clonozepam for the spasticity and also cramps that I have. It seems to be working, but I have to take the maximum dosage for it to work. Lol.... I'm not sure if its good for people with MG to take it though...

Thanks Connie, I didn't really want to add more meds to the mix, but I guess. I am already on Synthroid, Iron, Mestinon, Prednisone and Imuran.

What dose of mestinon are you on? I know a high dose will cause this. I am only taking 60mg to take the "edge" off and thankfully the cramping has been minimal

Is it like a pulled muscle kind of cramp? I get those in my abdomen when I have bad coughing fits. Depending on how I'm sitting or standing when it happens I get them right or left side... I find it goes away pretty quick so never bother about it.

Hey Melanie,

I'm not quite sure what type of cramping you are having. I use to have them when I took a higher dose of Mestinon like Joanmarie. I still get it on lower doses, but not as often. Maybe you can tell your neuro and see if there is something else causing it. Hope you feel better.

Hugs,
Pat
