Smile still awaiting a diagnosis but content with my new neuro :)

Hi everyone!

just thought id give you an update on how i went at my new neurologist. SO much happier with her! she actually listens to me! she's very efficient too! the day after my appointment she did a Nerve conduction study and a SFEMG on a non-weak muscle. (i previously had a SFEMG on a weak muscle-under my eye, but apparently the person who did it wasn't all that qualified). both tests came back negative but she hasn't ruled out mg just yet. she ordered more blood work as well to test for the various antibodies along with other things like thyroid dysfunction. by the time i see her next she'll have the bloods back and if they all come back negative and im still showing symptoms then she'll consider trialing me on some medication (mestinon i presume). I'm really pleased with how things went. I'm quite happy to wait a few more weeks and see how things pan out. i mean my symptoms are relatively mild. in fact im kind of use to what's going on with my body and im adapting to it. Or, maybe im getting better! who knows? im also getting use to all the waiting and have come to expect nothing less. Im just so relieved that i have found a neuro who i feel confident will help me regardless of whether a MG diagnosis is made or not. she's not just going to ship me off to a psychologist like my last neuro was planning to do.

Thanks for listening!!!

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the festive season.

Polly

Wow Polly, That sounds amazing. I hope this neuro is really the answer for you and you respond to the meds. Sounds a keeper. My neuro refused to trial me on mestinon w/out a positive test result. What a difference a State can make. Can I PM you to find out more detail ? You will see in my other post that I had a near choke 2night...and am a bit scared now. This is my 4th year now of no help or answers.

Polly, that is great. Maybe you could private message the name of your neuro to Xanadu?!!! She needs help.

I hope you will get more answers. It stinks not knowing what is going on.

Hope your spring/summer isn't too hot over there.

Annie
