Default Cataracts/Double Vision/Prednisone

Hello everyone

Went to the eye Dr on Friday for check-up {ok, I admit it has been 12 years since I had one}

Dr. explained that I have cataracts in both eyes but not servere enough yet to do surgery and he said it was caused from the pred I took years ago and that not even prisim glasses would help with the double vision because cataracts cause double vision also.

The difference between the MG and cataract double vision is that with cataracts you have double vision even if you close one eye, well that explained a lot to me, I thought I was crazy that I had double vision in "one" eye...LOL

So for those of you taking high doses of Pred make sure you see your eye Dr. on a yearly basis.

Gee Joanmarie, If they are effecting you eyes now, can't he do something about them now? Thanks for the great info.

Hugs,
Pat

Pat,

I really didn't understand why he doesn't want to remove them, other than the fact he is afraid {like all my Docs are} because of the MG and my super sensitive reaction to meds.

So, I guess I will just continue with the way I am. Heck, been this way for so long, I wouldn't know what to do if I saw straight..LOL

Woah, Joanmarie! Didn't you take prednisone like more than 15-years ago, and only for a year? I can't believe that the effects of it are that long-lasting!

Sorry to hear about it.

P.S. I can't wait to be off of it myself.

Nicky

Yes I visit my optometrist once a year. A couple of visits ago he said I have the VERY very very early stages of cateracts, due to pred, but I wouldn't have to worry about them causing any problems for years. He also rekons my vision is near perfect, which is good, I suppose I have to have one thing in my body that works well!!
