Does anyone have an idea on how much a patient's bill can run with a thoracosopic thymectomy? I am trying to work with insurance to cover my "out of network" upcoming surgery...but so far...it looks like it will only cover 80% of the charges....I am just wondering how much I am looking at...

I hear ya!
There's the surgeon fee, the radiologist fee, the anesthesiologist fee, the hospital fee, the operating room fee...it just goes on and on. Most plans have a max payout per individual and another per family after which everything is covered 100%. Maybe this will work out okay for you by the time the year is over!! Hope so! I wish I could help you here, but I had my thymectomy 19 years ago and it was the old fashioned kind... I was in the Hosp over a month and my bill ran over one hundred thousand.
My Ins. paid all but 8000.oo but like I said, that was a long time ago. Talk to your Dr's and the hospital and see if they will accept the ins fee's or see if they will accept ins. as payment in full. Sometimes they will agree to that. Good luck and keep us posted |

Thanks guys! I am going to have surgery in 2 weeks. I am praying that this puts me into remission! No matter what...even if I have to get a loan...I am doing it where the "experts" are...and also doing it the less invasive way. The only way here locally...is cracking the chest!

Cricket - in my opinion, the most important thing of all is that YOU are comfortable - - that alone will give you a speedier recovery!!
Keep us posted...and I'm sending positive thoughts out for insurance to cover it all!! Sue |
