Default Little confused.

Hey guys- Its been a little while since my last post. Ive been, sort of busy i guess/Not feeling the best.

Ive been having episodes of trachyacardia and weakness after excersizing.

Last night, I went and practiced with my club soccer team, WHICH MY DOCTOR SAYS IS FINE, and after coming home, i couldnt wash my face, brush my teeth, and my throat felt like it was closing, and i couldnt make it up the stairs without crawling.
-So i went to sleep...
Woke up, tried to shower, and then tried going to school...but driving didnt go well...i turned around and went home. I slept all day, and now am feeling a little, little better.

Walking around today was even a challenge, when shuffling around in bed, my pulse went to 120. So i called my neuro, and he said im STILL allowed to excersize, and didnt need to see me, until april 5th. I have a cardio app. the 12th, which he thinks will prove it is something other than MG.

Im not sure who to believe...

Hope your all well.

Your situation reminds me of that old joke by Henny Youngman, which you are too young, "man", to remember. Sorry, couldn't resist.

The patient says, "Doctor, it hurts when I do this." "Then don't do that!"

Who should you believe? YOU. Tyson, always trust your instincts. If it feels like it's MG, then it probably is. There may be something else contributing like an underlying condition or a side effect of one or more drugs. Whatever is making you feel week, it appears to get worse the more you do.

I'd be confused too.

Some things aren't so easy to figure out right away. It can take time. When in doubt, err on the side of caution.

I hope they can help you soon. It's no fun to be in limbo.

Annie

Yes Annie is right, trust your intincts.

Often I wonder how my Drs come up with some of the things they say, Iam living in my body 24/7, they see me for maybe 15 minutes every few months. They still wonder why I'm not out working.......I'm just waiting for the day, when I say, "why don't you come and live with me for a month, and see the real me"

I'm afraid when you can't wash your face, such a simple thing, your body is trying to tell you to rest........been there done that, and yes its hard, I still find it so.

It sounds like your body is really trying to tell you something, despite your Dr telling you sport is ok, maybe just not at the moment.

wish I had some better words of wisdom, I just hope your cardio helps out
take care
Kate

My opinion is that you should stop all the exercising. It just doesn't make sense to me to continue doing that when your body is telling you that it can't handle that right now. Our bodies speak to us for a reason Tyson and it is up to you to make your mind listen to it. Slow down and stop all the exercising. It's hard but I really feel that you will get better in the long run if you slow down and remember that life is a marathon not a sprint

I do hope you find out what the problem is real soon.

Blessings,
Shari

Question

Are you still taking high dose prednisone?

All these feelings could be side effects from this drug alone.
(low potassium, low magnesium, weakness etc.)

I've lost track with your med changes.

This may be completely off base but I found it interesting due to your high lipids, etc. Which, I know, can be due to drugs. I simply found it interesting that acetylcholine was involved in this process. Since you are going to medical school, why not start here!

Circulating and tissue endothelin immunoreactivity in hypercholesterolemic pigs.
A Lerman, M W Webster, J H Chesebro, W D Edwards, C M Wei, V Fuster, J C Burnett Jr
Department of Internal Medicine, W.D.E., C.M.W., J.C.B.), Division of Cardiovascular Disease Mayo Clinic and Foundation, Rochester, Minn 55905.
BACKGROUND. Hypercholesterolemia is characterized by a coronary vasoconstrictive response to the endothelium-dependent vasodilator acetylcholine. This abnormality may be due to reduced synthesis of endothelium-derived relaxing factor and/or enhanced synthesis and release of an endothelium-derived contracting factor. Endothelin is an endothelium-derived vasoconstrictor and mitogenic peptide that is present in normal plasma, and its circulating concentrations are elevated in disease states that are characterized by abnormal endothelium-dependent relaxation to acetylcholine. The current studies were designed to test the hypotheses that experimental hypercholesterolemia results in elevation of plasma and tissue endothelin immunoreactivity and that the abnormal acetylcholine-evoked coronary vasoconstriction in the hypercholesterolemic animals is associated with further elevation of plasma endothelin. METHODS AND RESULTS. Plasma concentrations and molecular forms of endothelin immunoreactivity were determined following 2% cholesterol diet for 4 months in pigs and during intracoronary acetylcholine administration. Second, we assessed the presence of endothelin in the coronary vascular wall by using immunohistochemistry. Hypercholesterolemia elevated plasma endothelin concentration and enhanced coronary artery tissue endothelin immunoreactivity. The endothelium-dependent vasodilator acetylcholine further increases plasma endothelin in hypercholesterolemia in association with coronary vasoconstriction. The predominant molecular form of endothelin in hypercholesterolemia is the biological active endothelin-1. CONCLUSIONS. This study suggests a role for endothelin as an early participant and a marker for the endothelial dysfunction in hypercholesterolemia as well as a participant in the atherogenic process.

You may "only" be having a drug reaction or interaction issue but the endothelial dysfunction is an interesting thought.

Well, I simply thought it was interesting. I guess I better not post "what if" stuff.

Annie,
I think you should continue to post whatever information that you find could be the cause of whatever is bothering him. You never know, the information that you post could actually be the cause of Tysons (or anyone else's) problems. We all need to work for each other because as well intended as our medical practioners are, they have many patients and sometimes we get lost in the shuffle.

I have found your knowledge to be very valuable and admire how you are willing to offer information about the possible causes of our ailments

Blessings,
Shari
