Here you go, Brian. Like I said, there's not a lot out there and there needs to be more studies on this. There should be an MG specific study done.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7189263 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15106728 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15683849 And this one by Dr. James F. Howard refers to the possible longer lasting effects of Mestinon, although it doesn't delineate why. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2540433 I hope that helps. Maybe you can dig around on Pubmed and find more. Annie |

Boy, I've sure learned a lot about Mestinon from reading these threads from Annie .I really appreciate Annie taking the time to explain Mestinon effects in simple terms using great examples . I even can pronounce acetylcholine now. ( Thanks Annie )
I started out with 60MG three times a day and was quickly upped to 60 MG four times daily .I'm still trying to determine the best times to take it .Based on Annie's statement that it lasts about four hours , I may modify my timetable for taking my Mestinon .Think I'll now take it upon rising ...about 7AM ..then about 11AM , then 3 PM to get me through the late afternoon doldrums and finally around 8PM prior to bed ... Assuming I don't need it through the night as no activity ( not normally .) My MG usually is controllable by using just Mestinon , except when I do lots of physical activity , mowing lawn etc and then I do suffer with weakness for a day or so . . Again , thanks for the explanation Annie ....You're the best Jack |

That's very kind of you, Jack. I think it's the teacher background.
I hope you won't make any changes to your Mestinon without your neuro's permission though. Everyone here is awesome. It's just pretty sad that so many people aren't doing well right now. Annie |
