Default sore?

So, today I did something I can't do, because there is no one in the universe who can do it for me and it was an utter necessity: I went through the summer clothes for my family.

Lest you think I'm being overly dramatic here, let me explain: I have seven children. People give us clothes like you wouldn't believe--twenty garbage-bags at a time, sometimes. Twice a year, I sort through them all, discard what will never fit, store the stuff that will fit someday, and take out stuff for the new season. It takes hours and hours.

Why can't someone do this for me? Because my sons and husband are the really masculine type, who think the only purpose of clothes is to prevent sunburns and frostbite. That's why.

Well! I got it all done! I had a really good day! And now...I am achey all over, especially my arms and back. Never had pain with mg before. Is it that if your muscles are weak, then lifting light stuff strains them just like lifting heavy stuff would if your muscles were normal?

The good news is that all the little boys had so many t-shirts and short-sleeved shirt that I think I only have to do laundry once this summer.

I think what you said is true. I get sore muscles all the time now with MG, in fact every time I do any activity. But I am happy that I have been able to do things.

For me it feels like only part of each muscle is working so this part has to do lots of work and of course it gets sore.

Be careful not to strain yourself. I get this feeling we could easily hurt our body due to muscles not supporting it properly.

I wonder sometimes what our muscles look like on the cellular level. For example, are 50% of the muscle cells working and getting stronger and the rest of the cells doing nothing?

The good news is, that activity seems to help MG. I think Nicky brought that up in another post. I have been experimenting and I do think excercise is good for MG, as long as you are careful not to overdo it.

I hope you are feeling better.

Thanks, DesertFlower, for the suggestion that light activity helps. I know that overdoing it is a disaster, so I got it into my head that no exercise at all is best. But, I see now that that doesn't necessarily follow.

There's so much to learn, and every time I think I've figured things out, the situation changes! I guess learning to deal with the changes is one of the things to learn...

Now I've gone and used up my caffeine-energy with deep thinking. Oh, well.

Default sore?

Abby,
I too get sore when I do repetitive activity. I notice it especially on days I work out in my yard. When I come in my arms and neck are so sore and heavy. I don't notice it as much if I go for a short walk or something quick but days when it takes me hours to accomplish something it gets much worse. I was in really good shape before MG and could work 10 hours outside or walk 5 or 6 dogs in one day with no problem. Now walking 3 exhausts me and leaves my legs feeling like lead. I think the muscles just weaken quicker now than they did before. I try to work for a while and take a break, then go back for a while longer. Resting in between seems to help. I do know that when I continue to push myself on a good day I end up having 2 or 3 days after where I can't do much. Sometimes it is worth it if it is something I really need to get done. I sure do miss having my old energy!!!
I was just thinking last night I need to tackle my closet. I have alot of clothes that no longer fit and need to get them boxed up. It is a major project for one person let alone 7 kids. You definitely had your work cut out for you!!!
