Default My appointment is finally here.

On Monday June 14th I am going to London to see Dr. Nicolle. I have been waiting a while to see this dr. I have really only heard positive things about this neurologist. I know that a few of you have seen him and said he has a nice manner. On top of that he is a leading researcher in the world of MG.

I have many questions but I am worried that I won't be able to take it all in. I plan to write it down, so we will have to see how that goes. After the consultation with the dr, I have EMG studies booked. Not really looking forward to that part, oh well. ~ Melanie

Melanie, is somebody going with you? I always take somebody in the room with me -- even taking notes, I always seem to miss something the doctor says. If not, do you have a little recorder that you could take -- just to make sure you get all the info?

I'm so jealous -- Dr. James Howard and Dr. Nicolle are two whose writings and research I really admire -- and I'd really like to "pick their brains" (American talk for "ask them a million questions" -- LOL)!!!

That's wonderful news Melanie,
I hope everything goes well and you get the answers you've been searching for. Try not to worry too much about the EMG studies. While it wasn't the best tests I had done, it wasn't the worst either. I had mine done way back in 1995 but I can still remember it not being so bad that I couldn't take it. Heck, I was feeling so bad at the time from MG that nothing else really phased me!

I have never done this and I am not sure if you are allowed to do it, but, if you can't write everything down, maybe you could record the appointment somehow and listen to it when you get home. I don't have any of the little gadgets myself but my kids have little iPods and such that are small and they can record everything without me really even knowing they are doing it - lol. Of course if you are allowed to record it then you would want to let your doctor know what you are doing and discuss it with your him.

I'll be thinking of you on Monday the 14th and sending up a little prayer for you.

Blessings,
Shari

lol Jana,
I was typing my reply as you posted yours so I asked her the same thing about recording the conversation. I didn't feel like editing it so I just wanted to post this to let you know why I asked the same thing as you.

I guess great minds think alike

I wish you all the best Melanie! I'm sure you will finally get the answers to all your questions. Hope someone is going with you. If not I'm sure he will give you the time you need to write everything down. Take care.

Hugs,
Pat
