I am currently on prednisone and mestinon for myasthenia. At this point 60 mg prednisone per day. Woke up during the night with eye discomfort. Saw opthamologist next day, turns out to be iritis, which can be indicative of an autoimmune disease, but not myasthenia. I have read that a person with one autoimmune disease is prone to develop others. The strange thing is,while being on a course of prednisone, iritis should never have happened. This is the first time for iritis. Anyone else with this?

Kris,
Sorry to hear about your eye. I hope that you're feeling better. I haven't experienced anything like this and am fairly new to MG. Is your doctor going to do any further testing to determine the cause of the iritis? Cate |

Thanks for writing. My opthamologist sent a letter to my neurologist, so probably when I see the neurologist again, it will be investigated. It does feel better now, thanks. Still using prednisone drops, dosage decreases every 2 wks.
