Default mestinon and low blood pressure

Does anyone with low blood pressure have problems with mestinon or the other drugs of this type for myasthenia?

I have low blood pressure and have had no trouble with Mestinon. In fact, I have none of the unpleasant side effects that some folks have.

I have extremely low blood pressure but the mestinon has brought it back into normal ranges-off mestinon I either go way up therelike 190/120 or way down to 84/52. I have had no chest pains while on mestinon and my acid reflux of over 12 years is completely gone if Im on mestinon-I dont even take high cost aacid reflux meds anymore! I love mestinon.

Mestinon is used by Dr Blair Grubb and the Mayo to treat low blood pressure as it has been found that it increases blood pressure on standing.

I have low blood pressure and find it is much more stable when I take mestinon.

Mestinon is being used to treat patients with low blood pressure if you have a look on a site called DINET you will see people with autonomic dysfunction use this drug.

Hope this helps

Yes Rach I am familiar with this. This is when I first figured out that some of the symptoms I was having was from perhaps Autonomic Dysfunction. I have neuropathy and wonder if that is part of that.

My internist gave me a big print out of info on POTS after my daughter had brought up with my ENDO how fast I bounce back when in ER and get IV fluids. She said I think you may have POTS. The info talked about Dr Low at Mayo who did the research on mestinon for POTS.

In response to this she told me to increase my salt intake a fair amount and drink a gallon of water a day. Now the water I was already doing but not salt. I have problems with regular salt. I finally found a salt online I can use without problems Pure Ocean.

I am wondering if it is autonomic dysfunction that that is why sometimes when the salt and the water and the mestinon arent hitting my body just right I get low bp rather than higher. Tesday at the docs my bp was 132/70 which my daughter pointed out was the highest she ever had seen. Yet today I am having the ache in my chest again. I am sure it has to do with having to push higher amounts of mestinon in me starting during the nite as my breathing got alot worse Tuesday due to the doctor trip. I will talk abou tthat elsewhere.

Default Hi Annie

I just thought I would let you know I will be having a tilt table test shortly - next month or so.

Not looking forward to it!

Look forward to hearing how this goes. I saw a older doc at the univeristy that was supposed to be a doc who know autonomic dys but he didnt do the tilt table or any of the normal tests I have seen online other than bp. But now that I know my bp varies so much nowonder I am not surprised in part he was so dismissive. But he also had a very ugly bias I get from time to time.
